Elle, Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde sequel series has substantially built an orbit of students in the high school world of Elle Woods. With the series now in production, drips of the school staff are starting to escape. That starts with Amy Pietz, who in a series regular capacity will play Donna, the school’s secretary.
Donna is described as no-nonsense, and surely it’s a bit peculiar that a secretary is the first series regular staff member to be revealed before a teacher or the principal. Already at eight series regulars, it might end up that it’s the secretary sent in to reel in the chaos before anyone higher can get out to see what’s unfolding. Lexi Minetree stars as Elle, with school Chandler Kinney as upperclassman Kimberly, Gabrielle Policano as Elle’s opposite Liz, and Jacob Moskovitz as star athlete Miles who is crushing on Elle, Zac Looker as classmate, sparring partner, and social justice rebel Dustin; Jessica Belkin as best friend Madison; and Logan Shroyer as Madison’s cousin and Elle’s crush Josh. Back home, there’s June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as her parents Eva and Wyatt.
Prime Video’s 'Elle' Surrounds Woods With Three More As Production Begins
It’s another perfect day to cast, or at least reveal casting for Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, starring Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, which began production last week. The series has cast Zac Looker, Jessica Belkin, and Logan Shroyer as three more peers for the title character.
Pietz is currently known as Marsha on Hulu’s Paradise. She might be best known prior for her recurring role as Donna Newton on The Office’s sixth and seventh seasons, or as Janice in the final two seasons of Modern Family. Her biggest series regular role was as Annie Spadaro on Caroline in the City, preceded by The WB’s Muscle, the only of the network’s initial four shows not to make it to the 1995-1996 season, thus freeing her for Caroline. Subsequent series regular roles included Cursed, later known as The Weber Show, CW series (of two starkly different eras) Aliens in America and No Tomorrow, and ABC Family’s The Nine Lives of Chloe King. She also played Ralph Dibny’s mom Debbie in an episode of The Flash. Her film roles include Rudy and Jingle All the Way.
Creator Laura Kittrell, whose work includes High School and Insecure, is co-showrunner and executive producer of Elle alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, who originated the role of Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde films, Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt also serve as executive producers. Jason Moore is directing the first two episodes and the series is produced by Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon’s company, and Amazon MGM Studios.
