Beetlejuice Has Taken A Wife, And It's Monica Bellucci
The actress has joined the Tim Burton-directed sequel with the returning Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder
Actress and model Monica Bellucci is in negotiations to join the cast of Beetlejuice 2, which just commenced filming in London. Filming does tend to reveal castings quite a bit. She is set to play Beetlejuice’s wife. The ghost with the most is apparently hitched.
Tim Burton returns to direct the sequel, Michael Keaton is back in the title role. Winona Ryder returns as Lydia Deetz with a daughter in tow played by Jenna Ortega, who source says is “leading the cast”, so maybe the ghost with the most isn’t moving into the lead role after all. Beetlejuice had only been in 17-18 minutes of the first film which he entered after the 25-minute mark. Comedy legend Catherine O’Hara is also apparently back as Lydia’s mother Delia Deetz, and Justin Theroux joins as an unknown character. Plot details remain unreleased to the public.
Known internationally for her appearances in French and Italian movies, Bellucci’s American film roles include Persephone in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, The Passion of the Christ, Tears of the Sun, Spectre, and her latest, Bleecker Street’s Mafia Mamma, with Toni Collette currently in theaters.
Beetlejuice 2 will be released September 6, 2024, reportedly taking over the date from Marvel Studios’s Blade, which shut down preproduction due to the writers’ strike, when initially it was reported they were sharing.
