'Clone High' Revival Gets Max Launch Date In Official Trailer
Okay so it's not quite May 18, but it's still a very special release date
The twenty-year freeze is almost up for the former MTV animated series Clone High. HBO Max has released the official trailer and with it the premiere date for the series revival.
The trailer begins with Joan friendzoning Abe for JFK, after Abe confesses her feelings for her. before everyone gets a crash course on the new world they’re in after 20 years of hypersleep. Frida reveals she channels her anxieties into some pretty unique art. The clones seek to use the lingo of the time they missed out on even if a bit out of style. There is so much wood for these “horny science experiments”. All sorts of chaos ensues, from a nail gun in JFK’s pants to flying pencils. Scudworth and Butlerobot watch a sunset together, before scandal erupts or is seen erupting in the latter’s home.
It finishes with the reveal of that premiere date: May 23. That date might sound familiar, as bumping it those five days makes it a Max rebrand launch title with Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and is the day Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives. Additional Max launch day originals premiering should be announced soon, as an advance listing was promised. Two episodes will premiere on that day and over the first four Thursdays in June, since Thursdays are when (HBO) Max originals have traditionally dropped and the rebrand is on a Tuesday. The season therefore runs 10 episodes.
Will Forte, Nicole Sullivan and series co-creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller return as Abe, Joan, JFK, Scudworth and Butlerobot respectively, while Digman!’s Mitra Jouhari is the new voice of Cleopatra. The series’ new voice cast also includes Big Mouth and The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri as Harriet Tubman; Vicci Martinez as Frida Kahlo; Kelvin Yu as Confucius; Neil Casey as Topher Bus; Jana Schmieding as Sacagawea; Sam Richardson as Wesley; Mo Gaffney as Ms. Grumbles; Al Madrigal as Frederico; Danny Pudi as Dr. Neelankavil; and Emily Maya Mills as Ethel Merman. There’s also Michael Bolton as Michael Bolton, Mandy Moore as Mandy Moore, Ian Ziering as Ian Ziering, and Steve Kerr as Steve Kerr but it’s still unclear if it’s their genuine selves, looser fictionalized versions of themselves or just straight-up clones. Christa Miller, the original voice of Cleopatra, voices Candide Sampson, who now runs the Clone High project. Donald Faison is back as George Washington Carver as is Judah Miller as Scangrade.
The series was also co-created by Bill Lawrence, and all three co-creators also serve as executive producers with Erica Rivinoja and Erik Durbin. The revival was announced in February 2021 by HBO Max with a two-season order. The trailer is below.
