Spread your eagles and fly! Just under two weeks after the first images were released and the release window was revealed (with the specific premiere date discovered), HBO Max has released the teaser for the upcoming revival of the former MTV animated series.
After a brief scene where Joan tells Abe she feels something is off and JFK chases a drone. the setup is told by Candide Sampson (the new character voiced by original castmember Christa Miller) as she reveals their duty to thaw the clones so they can be trained as world dominators in Operation Spread Eagle. There’s then a bit of a roll call kicking off with new characters Confucius (voiced by Kelvin Yu), Harriet Tubman (voiced by Ayo Edibiri), before going to JFK, Cleo, and Joan, with a scene between Abe and Christopher Columbus, before introducing Frida Kahlo and her sentient unibrow. Mr. Butlerobot and Scudworth get to trip out as the co-creators Phil Lord and Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence get to flex their recent high-profile credits, specifically Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Ted Lasso. Quick cuts of chaos and debauchery ensue.
Will Forte, Nicole Sullivan, Lord, and Miller return as Abe, Joan, JFK, Scudworth and Butlerobot respectively, while Digman!’s Mitra Jouhari is the new voice of Cleopatra, and some actors for characters outside the main friend group also reprise, and still more characters are introduced. Since this was the first trailer, it of course enforced the Spring release window, but that May 18 release date on the site has not changed. Turns out since the trailer itself is age-restricted and not playable on Substack (okay fair shake), link to the trailer is here.
