'Deadpool 3' Welcomes Back Morena Baccarin And Stefan Kapičić For Marvel Studios Sequel
Vanessa and Colossus are back with the Merc with the Mouth
Now that’s definitely some successful negotiation. Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapičić are confirmed to be reprising their roles as Wade Wilson’s temporally rescued fiancée Vanessa Carlysle and fellow hero Colossus for the upcoming Deadpool 3.
For Baccarin, whose credits include V, Firefly, Stargate SG-1, and more recently Gotham and the short-lived The Endgame, this comes after some testy negotiation, according to her most recent appearance on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, which was released on April 4. When Rosenbaum asked for an update, she responded “Yeah, what is up with Deadpool 3?” At the time, she expressed interest in returning, there were calls and everyone was working hard to come up with agreeable terms. She was skeptical on whether it would all work out, but ultimately, upon the news breaking she confirmed it on Instagram stating “I said yes!”
While Kapičić has been understandably quieter, he was nevertheless excited to confirm the news on his Twitter. His other credits allegedly include several Serbian dubs, including as the voice of James for the first five seasons of Pokémon as well as dads in Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur, before finding Hollywood work like six episodes of Better Call Saul.
The two of them join Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams, who play Dopinder and Blind Al, as returnees from the previous films in the series. New actors to the series include Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine from the X-Men films, Emma Corrin as the villain, and Matthew Mcfadyen. Baccarin has stated an understanding of the focus of the film being on Wolverine and Deadpool and their friendship.
Free Guy and Stranger Things’s Shawn Levy is on board to direct, with Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese returning to pen the script along with The Marvels co-writer Zeb Wells. A previous draft was written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. Being now under Marvel Studios, president Kevin Feige boards as a producer alongside Levy and Reynolds. Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release on November 8, 2024.
