Discotek Media Updates Progress On 'Digimon the Movies', Announces 'Adventure 02' Subbed Release

It’s Otakon’s time of year again! This time last year, though on the other side of the Digimon franchise’s celebrated Odaiba Day, the anime distributor announced at the convention “Digimon The Movies: Movie Collection 1”, which will include new dubs of the films that comprised what would be released in the United States as Digimon the Movie: Digimon Adventure, Our War Game, and Hurricane Touchdown, as well as a remaster of the original Digimon: The Movie dub. That’s still coming, but it seems the bigger news this time is (primarily) about English-subtitled Japanese audio releases.
This time, that honor is going to Digimon Adventure 02, the second season of the franchise and sequel to Digimon Adventure. Discotek had just released a remastered English dub at the end of May, and those masters will be used for this. The promised extras include clean opening and ending themes, end cards, galleries, and a pre-series promo. The packaging will have swapped character positions compared to the English release. The disc labels complement the dub releases too, and like the Adventure releases, With the Will’s MarcFBR is producing, while onkeikun is the translator for the subs.
As for “Digimon the Movies”, it’s still in approvals, it’s close though. They didn’t specify what was left on the checklist but boy, that pop-filled jukebox soundtrack alone seems like quite a bit to secure. Still they’ve gotten a lot of it and more details are expected soon.
It’s also worth bringing up the trailer Toei released for Odaiba Day, which featured reanimated classic Adventure scenes in clean 16:9, but also the moments that the DigiDestined that weren’t Tai met their partner Digimon, since by the time they met back up with Tai they were already freaked out by the weird clingy creatures whose attachment they didn’t quite understand. There’s also Agumon at the end remaining just after the DigiDestined returned home in the finale. It can be watched below. See you later Tai.
