Disney Channel Camps Out Premiere Date For New Animated Series 'StuGo'
Sneako Peeko, go and plug that leako. Happy 40th anniversary Disney Television Animation!
If you like mad science, summer camp, and fraudulence, Disney Channel has the show for you. The cable channel is holding a “Sneako Peeko” stunt on January 1 for sneak peeks at what’s to come for it in 2025. The first show highlighted is coming the quickest, the animated series StuGo, which has an 8:50 PM slot during the event and will formally premiere Saturday, January 11 at 8 PM ET/PT with two episodes, followed by new seemingly singular episodes weekly on Sundays at 9 am ET/PT.
A premiere date for StuGo has been long awaited as it comes after its sneak peek was supposedly originally set to air on September 7, following the premiere of the singalong version of Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation, so it makes sense that if it’s this delayed, it got out there first. StuGo is about six middle schoolers tricked by a mad scientist into attending a fake academic summer camp. What was believed to be three months of learning transforms into an adventure of a lifetime on a tropical island filled with dinosaurs, lava monsters, a giant crab with a shipwreck shell, giant fighting fungi, mind-reading manatees, and fashion-forward mutants. The series is created by Ryan Gillis, an alum of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, and inspired by his childhood surrounded by the rich wildlife and vibrant energy of southern Florida.
StuGo stars Tania Gunadi, a Disney Channel veteran as far back as Pixel Perfect and Go Figure who is probably best known as Sashi Kobayashi on Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero and as Harper Burgess on Girl Meets World. She’s Pliny, while Zosia Mamet is Merian, Zach Reino is Chip, Gabourey Sidibe is Francis, Charlyne Yi is Larry, Deborah Baker Jr. is Sara, Lorraine Toussaint is the mad scientist Dr. Lullah and Jake Green is her assistant Mr. Okay.
Gillis also serves as an executive producer on the series, which has Gravity Falls alum Sunil Hall as co-executive producer and Craig Lewis, whose work includes Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, as story editor. StuGo comes from Disney Branded Television and is produced by Titmouse in association with Disney Channel. As for Disney+, it won’t be arriving as quickly as next day or next major turnover day. Instead, it’s been marked for “Spring 2025”, which means a minimum of 7 weeks before it will arrive on the streamer. Happy 40th anniversary Disney Television Animation!
