'Inside Out' Spinoff Series 'Dream Productions' Standalone Trailer Released
The four-episode animated series premieres December 11 on Disney+
It was just over two months ago that Pixar delayed their first long-form animated series Win or Lose by switching it with their Inside Out spinoff Dream Productions. By moving up release three months, release on December 11 was coming up much quicker, and so Disney+ released a new trailer that showcases the series alone.
The trailer openly declares how it’s set between the first and second films, so only Riley’s base set is here. Joy reintroduces us to Dream Productions, a locale visited in the first film which well, produce her dreams much like feature films. There, we get introduced to the production staff, including director Paula Persimmon, voiced by Paula Pell and assistant director Janelle, who tell how they have been working since Riley was about two years old. The rush to put on a show as Riley falls asleep. Comedy director Zak, action director Sheng and nightmare director Gigi are then introduced, as well as Xeni, voiced by Richard Ayoade. Everyone’s looking for the next hit dream, and Paula’s very clearly Maya Rudolph-voiced superior is putting the bar high for her to succeed.
As the official synopsis puts it, Riley is growing up and her memories need some extra processing, so Joy and the rest of the Core Emotions send them to Dream Productions. Paula Persimmon faces a nightmare having to create the next hit dream while teamed with Xeni, smug and looking to step up into the big leagues of night dreams. It is a four-episode series.
Written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon, Dream Productions will feature Riley and her core five emotions all reprising their roles from the second film. That’s Kensington Tallman as Riley, Amy Poehler as Joy, Liza Lapira as Disgust, Tony Hale as Fear, Lewis Black as Anger and Phyllis Smith as Sadness. Ally Maki’s role hasn’t quite been confirmed but it sure seems like she’s Janelle considering the relative prominence. Composer Nami Melumad does the score, and the soundtrackwill be available on all streaming services beginning Friday, December 20.
