Jennette McCurdy’s Memoir ‘I'm Glad My Mom Died' Becoming Apple TV+ Series Starring Jennifer Aniston
I know the world has changed, make it wonderful
Jennette McCurdy is back on television with her story. Apple TV+ has given a 10-episode order to I’m Glad My Mom Died, inspired by her 2022 New York Times bestselling memoir she published through Simon & Schuster. Written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher, previously of Ramy, Jennifer Aniston has been cast as the mother.
McCurdy’s memoir told of her struggles as a former child actor, starting out with minor guest roles on shows like Mad TV and Malcolm in the Middle before entering the Nickelodeon sphere in 2005 and staying until 2014, most prominently starring as Sam Puckett on iCarly and Sam & Cat, with a slew of TV movies on top of that, while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother. The dramedy jumps off of that by centering on a codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress for a hit kids’ show, and her narcissistic mother, played by Aniston who relishes in her identity as “a starlet’s mother”.

I’m Glad My Mom Died spent over 80 weeks on the bestseller list and was highly praised for everything it had told. Aniston also executive produces via Echo Films. Other executive producers include Sharon Horgan and Stacy Greenberg for Merman; Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap; Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay.
