John Malkovich Is Being In Marvel Studios' 'The Fantastic Four'
The 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' star is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe
It turned out to be quite the fantastic day for casting news regarding Marvel Studios’s The Fantastic Four. It just didn’t feel right to combine them, so I’ll be doing them separately. Thursday afternoon it was reported that John Malkovich had been cast in an undisclosed role.
A two-time Oscar nominee in supporting roles for Places in the Heart and In the Line of Fire, Malkovich is also known for the RED films, the Eragon adaptation, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Con Air, The Man in the Iron Mask, of course Being John Malkovich, and voicing Dave the villainous octopus in The Penguins of Madagascar. He enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe most recently starring in Apple TV+’s drama series The New Look as French fashion designer Lucien Lelong. His other prominent TV roles include The New Pope, Netflix’s Space Force and as the voice of Mr. B on Ten Year Old Tom. Up next, Malkovich will be seen in Julian Schnabel’s Hand of Dante, the A24 horror film Opus with Ayo Edebiri, and the biopic The Yellow Tie on famed Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache.
He joins recent addition Paul Walter Hauser in the “role unknown” pile. As of this break only five cast members had known roles: Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm the Thing, and Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, a Silver Surfer.
The Fantastic Four is directed by WandaVision creator Matt Shakman from a script by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson and Ian Springer. The film is set to be released on July 25, 2025, and just two and a half hours after Malkovich’s casting was revealed, it got its first villain revealed, so eat up, that’s coming soon.
