'Inside Out 2' Has An Emotional Release For Its Official Trailer
Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment have officially been revealed in the latest trailer for the Disney and Pixar sequel releasing on June 14
Disney and Pixar have released the official trailer for Inside Out 2, the sequel to 2015’s Inside Out set for release this June 14. After November’s teaser trailer introduced Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, the first poster teased other new emotions for teenage Riley’s changing body, Envy, Ennui, Embarrassment, and now they’re revealed for the whole world in this round.
The official trailer opens much like the film’s Super Bowl spot, with Joy calling Riley’s hockey game as it serves as rollcall for Anger, Sadness, Fear and Disgust. Joy laments at the passing time and how fast Riley is growing. Anxiety shows up, revealing they’re not alone. Envy admires Disgust’s hair, as Ennui languishes and lounges on the couch. Embarrassment is a shy behemoth who pounds the control panel in a hoodie they of course hide in when their trait becomes too overpowering. Riley’s interactions are way more complex and leaves her emotions quite uncoordinated. So much that Anxiety takes over and bottles up and suppresses the original 5. Operation: New Riley is a surefire mutiny and now Riley can’t even get out of bed, and the original five must find their way back together.
With Riley now voiced by Kensington Tallman, her new emotions in addition to Hawke as Anxiety are Paul Walter Hauser as the burly Embarrassment, Ayo Edebiri as the obviously jealous Envy, and Adèle Exarchopoulos as the deadpan Ennui. They join the returning Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, and Tony Hale and Liza Lapira now voicing Fear and Disgust respectively. But that’s not all! Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan return to voice Riley’s mom and dad; Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green and Grace Lu voice Riley’s best friends; Lilimar Hernandez voices Valentina “Val” Ortiz, a widely-idolized high school hockey player, including by Riley, and Yvette Nicole Brown voices summer hockey camp runner Coach Roberts.
It has also been confirmed that John Ratzenberger is returning in his first Pixar role since 2020’s Onward. What role that is hasn’t been disclosed, one of many actors in the same boat. That includes Muppets legends Dave Goelz, Frank Oz, and Kirk Thatcher, as well as previously-reported June Squibb, as well as Sarayu Blue, Flea, Ron Funches, Saturday Night Live’s James Austin Johnson and alums Bobby Moynihan and Paula Pell, Paula Poundstone, Kendall Coyne Schofield and Yong Yea. Hitting theaters on June 14, Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen with Meg LaFauve returning to write.
