Marvel Studios Flags Fourth Film For 2028
There might be a lot coming for the 20th anniversary of the MCU
So much for scaling back. After what will be two years with two films each, one of which isn’t theirs to boast and the other unannounced but coming between Avengers films in 2026 and 2027, Disney has planted a fourth flag for a Marvel Studios film in 2028. Already having dates in February, March, and November, this new flag has been set up for December 15, 2028.
Too soon to tell whether these dates will actually hold, the move is seemingly counter to CEO Bob Iger’s previous words about “doing too much”. But it doesn’t feel right to bring back the full quotes if they’re not going to mean much. Then again it could be a backup should they need to do any shuffling. Still, after The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens on July 25, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is made with Sony’s involvement comes on July 31, 2026 and, after the recent move from May 7, Avengers: Doomsday is set for December 18, 2026 is set to bring that unannounced project as another July release, while Avengers: Secret Wars will close out the Multiverse Saga on December 17, 2027. One might notice that that’s the equivalent weekend to the new flag. That seems to emphasize confidence to not hand it off elsewhere, and indicate that they want to keep that a launch weekend all the way through to the fourth Avatar film in 2029.
Marvel Studios’ 'Blade' Removed From Release Schedule As 2028 Gets Staked
In this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which featured Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Marvel’s vampire hunter from his trilogy of New Line Cinema films, it was said there’s only one Blade, and there’s only ever gonna be one Blade. The wink Deadpool gave may take on a whole new context if it wasn’t thought of already.
After Secret Wars, the ensuing saga will reportedly have a focus on the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, with the first sequel for the former being considered a candidate for one of the four 2028 slots. Other candidates include being a landing spot for Blade, amounting to six years of delays, and sequels for Black Panther and Shang-Chi. Sources are pointing to the currently-developing first X-Men film of the new continuity, with Jake Schreier as likely director, being a candidate too, but that July 2027 date seems likelier, personally.
Warner Bros. Sets Locksmith’s 'The Lunar Chronicles' For November 2028
We now know what Locksmith Animation’s next film with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation after they unleash the magic of Bad Fairies. Straight out of Annecy, The Lunar Chronicles, based on Marissa Meyer’s No. 1 bestselling book series, has been given a November 3, 2028 release date.
