'Masters Of The Universe: Revolution' Reveals Different 'Trek' Alum’s Role With Final Trailer
That’s our Q to get ready for the January 25 release of the follow-up to the follow-up of the classic ‘80s series
It’s a free-for-all brawl for the throne of Eternia in the official trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revolution, the follow-up to Masters of the Universe: Revelation, all comprising Kevin Smith’s sequel for Netflix to the classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe which ran from 1983 to 1985. Revolution premieres January 25.
The official synopsis for the new season reads, "It’s technology versus magic when He-Man and the heroic warriors face the forces of Skeletor and something more in Masters of the Universe: Revolution – the new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull! The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with the might of Motherboard, attacks the heart of Eternia while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man! Adam is forced to choose between the scepter or the sword, and a life as either the King or the Champion! Meanwhile, the new Sorceress Teela searches for the secret of Snake Magic in the mists of Darksmoke to rebuild a magic realm and help He-Man hold off the greatest threat Eternia has ever faced: the return of the despot Hordak, the ruthless leader of the Horde Empire!"
The series stars Chris Wood as He-Man, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Diedrich Bader as King Randor and Trapjaw, Melissa Benoist now playing Teela, with new cast members Keith David as Hordak, the 1987 film’s Evil-Lyn Meg Foster as Motherboard, Liam Cunningham as Dundan aka Man-At-Arms, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn/Majestra, Griffin Newman as Orko, Tiffany Smith as Andra, and Tony Todd as Scare-Glow. Somehow, John de Lancie, best known as Q in the Star Trek franchise or Discord on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic voicing Granamyr has been revealed while William Shatner’s role remains under wraps.
Smith has teased matchups like He-Man vs. Skeletor, Skeletor vs. Hordak, Eternia vs The Horde Army, Orko vs. Gwildor, and Hamill vs. Shatner, but it doesn't quite hint at the nature of Shatner’s role because of present villain faction showdowns. He also reveals that while Revelation had two five-episode releases for a ten-episode whole, Revolution will have just one, as he says all five episodes will be released on Netflix on January 25.
