From 'Revelation' to 'Revolution', Kevin Smith's He-Man continuation finally returns
It’s been nearly two years since Kevin Smith’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe continuation, Masters of the Universe: Revelation released the back half of its first season. It was last June that the second season, Masters of the Universe: Revolution was announced at Geeked Week and now we’re finally getting to see what’s going on with a first-look clip released by Netflix.
We see He-Man take on Scareglow, who seems to have gotten some upgrades that still don’t stop his dismemberment when Adam’s father, King Randor joins the fight in his mech suit and dismembers the foe. Revelation part 2 premiered on November 23, 2021 after part 1 premiered four months prior, with a full reboot iteration beginning inbetween, starring Yuri Lowenthal, whose 26-episode season was split into three. The streamer has released a synopsis for Revolution that says “The rivalry as old as Eternia comes to an epic showdown! With Hordak entering the fray, will Skeletor finally defeat He-Man and his allies in the battle for Eternia?” The season sees the return of most of the cast, including Chris Wood as He-Man, and Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Diedrich Bader as King Randor, however Melissa Benoist takes over as Teela, and joining the cast are Keith David as Hordak, the 1987 film’s Evil-Lyn Meg Foster as Motherboard, and William Shatner, whose role hasn’t been publicly revealed. How much we’ll see of Mer-Man and what’s going on there after the death of Kevin Conroy is unknown.
The streamer announced that Revolution will premiere January 25. Its release pattern is not explicitly revealed but its looking likely that there won’t be a split this time. They have also promised more news and teases for this year’s Geeked Week, happening November 6-12, which will also feature teases for the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender, One Piece, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Sonic Prime, Tomb Raider, Ultraman Rising, Orion and the Dark, The Umbrella Academy and The Dragon Prince, among others.
