Netflix Celebrates 10 Years Of 'Bojack Horseman' By Ordering Creator’s Next Series
Raphael Bob-Waksberg and production company Tornante will debut 'Long Story Short' in 2025
On August 22, 2014, Bojack Horseman premiered its 12-episode first season on Netflix, as the streamer’s first original animated series. Featuring the voice talents of Will Arnett, Aaron Paul, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, and Paul F. Tompkins, it would be one of its pillars for original series in general and run for another 5 seasons and 65 episodes before concluding on January 31, 2020. On August 22, 2024, the streamer announced that it was reteaming with creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg for his next animated comedy series Long Story Short.
Set to debut in 2025, the official logline describes the show as “about a family, over time. It’s about the shared history, the inside jokes, the old wounds. If you’ve ever had a mother, father, sibling, partner, or child, this is the show for you and by the way would it kill you to call them?” Not only is Bob-Waksberg here, in writing and showrunning capacities but so is The Tornante Company, Bojack’s production company owned by Michael Eisner (hello!) to produce this series, and animation studio ShadowMachine, producing from Los Angeles.
“It is legitimately a thrill and an honor to be back doing what I love most: drafting enthusiastic pull quotes for press releases to Hollywood trade publications. Who says you can’t go home again?!” Bob-Waksberg said. He also executive produces with Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen from Tornante Television. Longtime friend, Bojack production designer and Tuca & Bertie creator Lisa Hanawalt is supervising producer and will design original art for the series. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley are the co-executive producers.
