Nickelodeon Sets Summer Premiere For Newest Nicktoon 'Wylde Pak'
A new original Nicktoon! Hell yeah!
We’re getting some more originality on Nickelodeon’s slate. The children’s network has set a summer premiere for Wylde Pak, a new 2D-animated comedy Nicktoon that follows a blended multigenerational Korean-American family. It is the second Nicktoon born from Nickelodeon’s Intergalactic Shorts Program after Rock Paper Scissors.
Proving once again that traditional television still lives at the kids networks, or at least among Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, the 26-episode series follows half-siblings Lily Pak and Jack Wylde as they learn to navigate new family dynamics, friends, and endless hijinks, under one roof for the first time, living together for the first time, pushed outside their comfort zones as they learn to coexist while helping run the family’s pet grooming and boarding business. With help from their parents and grandmother, they will learn about each other’s previously separate lives, as well as “blended identity, vibrant culture and the importance of family”.
Nickelodeon Orders 'Avatar: Seven Havens', First Series From Avatar Studios
It’s a very happy anniversary for Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise. On the eve of its 20th anniversary, the network has announced that the franchise’s third full-length animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens, has not only been greenlit but is currently in production.
Inspired by co-creators and executive producers Paul Watling, previously of The Tiger’s Apprentice and Kyle Marshall’s (The Loud House) family life (lives?), Nikki Castillo as competitive and fun-loving 11-year-old Lily Pak, and Benjamin Plessala as the adventurous 13-year-old half-brother Jack, who just came into town for the summer. Alongside them are Ben Pronsky as their fun-loving dad William Wylde, Jee Young Han as Lily’s energetic mom and Jack’s stepmom Min-Ju Pak, and Jean Yoon as Min’s unpredictable mom, and Lily and Jack’s caring yet stubborn grandma Halmoni.
Instead of a trailer or first stills, Nickelodeon released an entire clip, where Lily, Jack, and the family navigate Woori World, their local Asian market, in search of a highly coveted box of imported Hallasand cookies. In the face of mind-bending obstacles from every direction, they all must work together to stand a chance. A second scene was released as a Short, where Jack makes his surprise arrival at the house. However, shorts don’t embed, so there will be no possible spacing issues in formatting this article.
“Nickelodeon’s commitment to showcasing stories about the human experience, filled with humor and adventure, holds true with the debut of the original series Wylde Pak,” said Ramsey Naito, the President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. “We can’t wait for our audience to meet this wonderfully blended family, which encapsulates what it means to be a modern family navigating the world around them while learning more about each other along the way.”
Wylde Pak is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank. Watling and Marshall’s fellow executive producers are Seonna Hong and Conrad Vernon. Development and production are overseen by Claudia Spinelli, the Senior Vice President of TV Series Animation at Nickelodeon and Daniel Wineman, the Vice President of Original Animation Development. Further clips will be going to both the Nicktoons and The Loud House YouTube channels.
