'Over The Garden Wall' 10th Anniversary Aardman Collaboration Details Revealed
Led through the mist, by the milk-light of moon, most that was Aardman, is revealed.
Show your Wirt, Greg. It was just a couple of weeks ago that Cartoon Network teased “Dancing in a swirl of golden memories...🍂🐸 A little gift from The Unknown to celebrate the 10th anniversary of #OvertheGardenWall.”, with an indication that it would be a collaboration with famed claymation studio Aardman Animation, announced to release on the exact day, November 3. Monday saw the network clarify more.
They announced “Back into the Unknown 🍂 🐸 Our #OvertheGardenWall anniversary gift -- a two-minute stop motion animated short in collaboration with Patrick_McHale and aardman. Coming Nov 3 to Youtube/social.” Stop motion takes a lot of work so it would’ve been a huge undertaking if it was longer than a short. It’s rather understandable that it is this way. McHale, who created the ten episode miniseries, wrote “It’s pretty beautiful, i think, and i hope people like it.” He also told that there will be more updates coming from both Cartoon Network and Aardman in the weeks remaining leading up to release.
Over the Garden Wall’s ten 11-minute segments are a unique blend of dark fantasy, comedy, and adventure, as well as its gorgeous animation and haunting and whimsical music. It sees Wirt (voiced by Elijah Wood) and Greg (voiced by Collin Dean) find themselves lost in a mysterious forest called the Unknown. As they try to find their way home, they encounter a variety of strange and fantastical characters. The cast also includes the likes of Melanie Lynskey, Christopher Lloyd, and Tim Curry, in one of his last roles before the stroke that sidelined him to this day.
