Sideshow Bob Has 'The Most Wonderful Time' With Disney Villains In Next 'Simpsons' Short
Details have been released on the Halloween-themed short first teased at D23 last month
Sideshow Bob is back again, and much quicker this time. Following his appearance in last year’s “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” segment “Ei8ht” ending a speaking absence of nearly 4 years, The Simpsons’s longest most-frequently recurring guest character returns for more Halloween festivities. This time, he’s starring in his own Disney+ short, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, coming to the streamer on October 11. The short was originally teased at D23 last month.
Yes, a short with that name is being released in October, because Halloween is peak villainy season. It will see the murderous Terwilliger team up with the most infamous villains of Disney+ to share the true meaning of the Halloween season. It’s filled with music, mayhem, and madness that is simply to die for.
“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” is the second Simpsons Disney+ short of the year, following May the 12th Be With You which commemorated Star Wars Day and Mother’s Day. It joined previous Star Wars Day-marking shorts “The Force Awakens From Its Nap” and “Rogue Not Quite One”, with others including “The Simpsons Meet the Bocellis in ‘Feliz Navidad,’” “When Billie Met Lisa”, “The Good, The Bart, and The Loki” and the Disney+ Day-commemorating “Plusaversary” and “Welcome to the Club”. The new short’s arrival date is exactly a year from when season 34 made it to Disney+. The poster, which can be seen below, has Bob riding a rake like a witch would a broomstick, because of course.
But that’s not all for The Simpsons’s Halloween festivities this year. “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” moves from Hulu jurisdiction to Disney+ jurisdiction in full with the rest of season 35 on October 2. Season 36 will see two Halloween-spirited episodes that were revealed to be airing on the Sundays following Halloween, November 3 and 10. There’s the regular “Treehouse of Horror XXXV”, which will feature an opening sequence animated by El Tigre creator and The Book of Life director Jorge Gutierrez, giant monsters created by political rage threaten to tear the town apart, a Victorian Mr. Burns is jump-scared on Thanksgiving by the ghosts of his abused workers, and a Venom parody made in collaboration with famed Robot Chicken studio Stoopid Buddy where Homer bonds with a pair of extra-terrestrial jeans in what’s cleverly called “Denim”. “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes” is its own Ray Bradbury-inspired anthology, where a tattooed man at a mysterious night circus transports Lisa into stories from the innocent 1950s, the “chilling” retro-present, and a “brutalist future” where “prestige TV rules the world”. Andy Serkis guest stars.
