'The Simpsons' Hits The Mother-Yode With New Short 'May the 12th Be With You'
The people at Disney+ once again want to make a fun, releasing May 10
It turns out that The Simpsons will not have a Star Wars-themed short for Star Wars Day on Saturday like they have in previous years. But they’re still going to have one. Disney has announced that the beloved Fox series’s next short is called “May the 12th Be With You”, releasing on Friday, May 10 on Disney+ in time for Mother’s Day.
The official synopsis reads that Marge “joins the moms of Disney+ on a special holiday outing that turns into an epic galactic adventure filled with heroes, villains and a surprising old friend.” Showrunner Al Jean tweeted a preview image that sees Marge get into a cab that has Dumbo’s mother poking her body out with her son in midair, while a sleigh marked “Mothers” carries Perdita, Eudora, and Helen and Jack-Jack Parr. Pongo, the puppies, Tiana, Dash, and Violet are all there to see them off, alongside the Aristocats, gown-adorned Cinderella, her Fairy Godmother, Mulan and her mother Fa Li, Aurora, Miguel and his Mamá from Coco, Joe Gardner and his mother Lubba from Soul, Moana, and Rapunzel with Queen Arianna and Mother Gothel. The short is directed by David Silverman. The poster and still can be seen below.
The Simpsons previously did two Star Wars shorts for May 4, “The Force Awakens From Its Nap” and last year’s “Rogue Not Quite One”, and others including “The Simpsons Meet the Bocellis in ‘Feliz Navidad,’” “When Billie Met Lisa”, “The Good, The Bart, and The Loki” and the Disney+ Day-commemorating “Plusaversary” and “Welcome to the Club”.
As for the main show, season 35 is winding down with its final three episodes. Sundays being Sundays, there will be a new regular episode on May 12 at the normal 8 PM timeslot, and it’s called “The Tipping Point”. Homer loses his mind over tipping culture run amok, obsessed with gratuitous gratuities. But we’ve got ALERT ALERT! IT’S DJ CRAZY TIMES! Have some noise because comedy musician Kyle Gordon and Chrissi Poland are very likely bringing viral hit “Planet of the Bass” to the show as Crazy Times and Biljana Electronica, the characters they play for the track (emphasis on the track, as none of Biljana’s likenesses are hers). Finally. World peace in Springfield.
