Paul Forman Confirmed As Another “Rogue" 'Doctor Who' Guest Star
The 'Emily in Paris' star will appear in series 14/season 1’s sixth episode as Lord Barton
With two and a half weeks until the return of Doctor Who and its regular series arrival on Disney+, the long-running sci-fi series is still finding ways to reveal the upcoming season’s guest stars. Doctor Who Magazine’s newest issue’s cover story is an interview with the actors playing The Beatles in “The Devil’s Chord”, being Chris Mason as John Lennon, George Caple as Paul McCartney, Philip Davies as George Harrison and James Hoyles as Ringo Starr. Meanwhile Entertainment Weekly confirmed an RSVP to whatever ball the Duchess of Pemberton is throwing by Emily in Paris star Paul Forman for the season’s sixth episode “Rogue”.
Forman is playing Lord Barton, who has a surface-level charm but carries sinister secrets underneath his smooth words, bringing an aura of mystery to the character. The “Rogue” guest cast already features such familiar names as Indira Varma as the Duchess of Pemberton, as well as Jonathan Groff, Callie Cooke and Genesis Lynea, whose roles have yet to be identified. “Any new chapter is exciting to be a part of, especially when it’s of a beloved and remarkable universe such as Doctor Who,” Forman stated to record. “To join such an established project and to combine it with this feeling of new and unbounded possibilities was thrilling. It made this role a special experience that I will never forget.” The first released image of his role features him with actress Camilla Aiko, whose role is also unidentified to this point.
Showrunner Russell T Davies heaped praise on Forman and teased “Someone like Paul isn’t just a name; he’s a talent,” Davies said. “We’ve all seen Emily in Paris, and we’ve seen him being one sort of person. I don’t think anyone’s quite expecting him to become this sort of person.” Forman is also set to appear in the upcoming Paramount+ series Stags.
Ed White, the actor playing The Beatles’ producer George Martin was also interviewed in the new Doctor Who Magazine issue, which revealed yet another guest star in Tom Rhys Harries, best known for roles in Suspicion, Unforgotten and White Lines. Executive producer Phil Collinson was quoted in the issue saying "It's an extra special delight for the Bad Wolf team to welcome Welsh talent on board the TARDIS. And Tom Rhys Harries is an international star, we've been trying to find the right part for him for a long time. And this one is spectacular!"
