The horror prequel you never knew you wanted, and may still not want, is coming ever closer. Paramount+ has announced a release date for Apartment 7A, a psychological thriller serving as the prequel to the classic Rosemary’s Baby, exploring what happened in New York City’s infamous Bramford building before the Woodhouses moved in. It will premiere Friday, September 27.
That date is the Friday before the streamer’s Halloween stunt can begin, and allows it to be available for it the entire month. The previously provided logline has blossomed into a longer synopsis which tells of ambitious young dancer Terry Gionoffrio, played by Julia Garner, who dreams of fame and fortune in New York City. Those dreams get derailed following a devastating injury. An older, wealthy couple, played by Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally, welcomes her into their home in the luxury Bramford apartment building. Neighbor and influential Broadway producer played by Jim Sturgess offers her a second chance, and she takes it. All seems well and good at first, buy after a very hazy evening, things turn very very wrong, realizing that something evil is living in the building and causing her to second-guess the sacrifices she’s willing to make.
Apartment 7A is a Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night production in association with Paramount Pictures. The film also features Marli Siu, Andrew Buchan, Rosy McEwen and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. It is directed by Natalie Erika James from her script written with Christian White and Skylar James, which is based on a screen story by James, as well as Ira Levin’s original Rosemary’s Baby novel. John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller produced, with Vicki Dee Rock and Alexa Ginsburg serving as executive producers.
Along with the announcement came several first look images, which can be viewed below.
