'Pokémon Horizons' Readies The Age Of 'Mega Voltage' Arc
The search for Laqua might be becoming the search for Friede
A landslide landmark moment is about to happen to the Pokémon Horizons anime. In Japan, the “Rayquaza Rising” arc, which is the fourth overall and now most definitely the back half of the dub’s second season The Search For Laqua, is hitting its climax. The next arc should be just around the corner. And indeed it is. The next arc is called “Mega Voltage” and will debut on April 11, following a three week break that starts after the “Rayquaza Rising” arc finale, “Beyond the Adventure” on March 21.
To recap where things stand at the moment Liko, Roy, Dot, the Rising Volt Tacklers, Gibeon and his Explorers have all arrived in Laqua, to protect and mine the Laquium respectively. Lucius, the Ancient Adventurer who is Liko’s great-great-grandfather and the trainer of the Six Heroes emerges and hasn’t aged a day! Amethio officially defects and in the battle against Gibeon’s shiny Zygarde, Liko’s Floragato evolved into Meowscarada, which will make 2-for-2 on season ending evolutions for who began as a Sprigatito. Shiny Zygarde then forfeited and abandoned Gibeon because it was a growth test for Liko. Now Pagogo the Terapagos is helping the land and the Six heal from everything. Along with the preview for episode 89, “Mega Voltage” is previewed with new key art that reveals something of a slight timeskip. Probably would’ve felt longer if the evolution into Meowscarada was held off, but Liko and Roy do look slightly older. 26 years of Ash Ketchum staying 10 years old and two years in his successors get to actually age. Liko has new hair pins, while Roy has a Mega Ring, a shiny Mega Lucario, and Captain Pikachu by his side? It seems Friede’s disappearance will be a major part of the arc. Dot is crawling out of her shyness to the point where her hair parts and her eyes are visible. There are no offscreen evolutions for Crocalor, Quaxwell, and Hattrem, nor are there any other Rising Volt Tacklers, Explorers or previously-seen supporting cast, but there is one new human character.
'Pokémon Horizons' Resumes Its Hero Work In Fourth Arc “Rayquaza Rising”, Coming In October
I see “Rayquaza Rising”, I see Kitakami on the way? Around here, coverage of Pokémon Horizons has usually kept to when the dub gets a new batch announced on Netflix. With everything it’s a lot to make room for episode title announcements and plot developments by episode. But Friday’s news surrounding imminent progression in its home country of Japan gav…
His name is Ult, and his partner is a Mega Sableye, doubling down on the return of Mega Evolution as Pokémon Legends: Z-A brings the feature back to the mainline games. He’s positioned as Roy’s new confident and competitive rival.
“Beyond The Adventure”’s summary reads “Finally, with the help of Pagogo and the Six Heroes, they succeeded in purifying Laquium. Just when they thought it was all over, Spinel suddenly declared that he would "occupy Laqua." he used a certain method to make the Six Heroes get out of control... Liko and the others tried to escape Laqua, which was falling apart due to the rampaging Six Heroes. What awaits Riko and Roy on their adventure to Laqua?!”
For the United States, which will get episodes 57-67 and close out the “Terastal Debut” arc on Netflix on April 25, “Rayquaza Rising” will roll out in 11 episode halves in Q3 and Q4, finishing out season 2, even if an episode shorter than season 1, because of the neatly wrapped arc ending. “Mega Voltage” will therefore likely not arrive until Q1 2026 as quarterly releases continue. It is basically guaranteed to be the start of season 3.
