Pokémon Returns To Kalos In 2025, Announcing 'Pokémon Legends: Z-A'
POKÉMON Z CONFIRMED! POKÉMON Z! Here is your Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents recap.
It’s been 3000 years! A very happy Pokémon Day one and all No Johto Let’s Go and no Unova-based Legends game, but a new Legends is coming. The Pokémon Company held its now-annual Pokémon Presents to mark the day, which was filled with updates for its mobile apps, and finished off with the announcement of the next mainline title Pokémon Legends: Z-A, returning the franchise to Kalos since the generation 6-launching games Pokémon X and Y.
The reveal trailer doesn’t go into too much detail, but it opens the confidential urban redevelopment plans for Lumiose City, which is Kalos’s biggest city and central hub. Pikachu is running through the 3D blueprints featuring citizens and their Kalos-native and residing Pokémon, as a vision of beautiful coexistence between them. Pan out for the aerial model and then boom. Logo reveal. 2025 release, giving ample time for development that what had been yearly releases since 2016 had even fans of the last two generations’ main games, Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet, call out graphical imperfections and bugs of all kinds. The kind that gave Palworld sycophants a superiority complex. But that wasn’t the end. One more moment that formed the Mega Evolution insignia, bringing back the games’ most beloved of battle gimmicks to the main series for the first time since 2018 Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. Many believe that like the Hisuian regional forms and their evolutions in Legends Arceus, this will mean new Mega Evolutions will be given to Pokémon that don’t have them.
The return to Kalos is significant because X and Y, the first games to get the simultaneous global release that Legends ZA also boasts. have been the only Kalos-set games, and didn’t have third versions, sequels, reimaginings, or DLC to build upon them, until now. Anything Zygarde-focused (whose scales texture the Z in this game’s logo) was put into the XYZ season of the anime as a Team Flare plot and Sun and Moon in a side quest collecting its cells. Now its lore can truly be explored in a satisfying way.
Elsewhere in the direct, new Scarlet and Violet raid events for Mighty-marked Kanto starters Venusaur, Blastoise, and a second round for Charizard. Venusaur’s runs from tomorrow to the end of March 5, leading to Blastoise’s from March 6 to 12, which leads to Charizard’s from March 13 to 17. Pokémon Go is doing a Horizons tie-in that’s waited for the English release, which is March 7, and now knowing that Go Tour: Sinnoh happened this past weekend (23 shinies over 16 hours, whoo!), I’m almost led to believe that the delay was so the Go tie-in didn’t overlap with such a major event. Running from March 5 to March 11, of course the Paldea starters are back to being featured Pokémon after being introduced in September. Captain Pikachu will be introduced here, as the latest hatted Pikachu variant, equipped with Volt Tackle, a move that hadn’t been introduced to Go yet. It will have 90 power in Trainer, Gym, and Raid battles and lowers defense by one stage. The event brings Charcadet, Ceruledge, and Armarouge in their debuts, with Charcadet being available in 2, 5, and 10km eggs. Snapshots will be photobombed by Liko and Sprigatito and Roy and Fuecoco. Birthday-hatted Kanto starters (including Eevee and Pikachu) are roaming now for Pokémon Day. Pawmi, Nosepass, Scyther, Beldum, Alolan Grimer will also be featured as wild encounters with the Paldean starters, Skarmory and Golduck can be found by Field Research tasks, as can Rockruff but also in one-star raids with Rhyhorn and Captain Pikachu. Three-Star raids will feature Chansey, Noctowl and Metagross. All are owned by either members of the Explorers or the Rising Volt Tacklers. Double hatch experience will also be in play.
If you’re wondering how to evolve Charcadet into either of them, here’s the rundown: With Charcadet as your buddy, it can evolve into Armarouge after defeating 30 Psychic-type Pokémon, into Ceruledge after defeating 30 Ghost-type Pokémon. Using Charcadet in any battles among the tally is not necessary.
The Johto legendary beasts, Entei, Raikou and Suicune, arrive in Pokémon Sleep starting with Raikou in March. In Pokémon Masters EX, the 4.5 year anniversary brings Geeta and Glimmora tomorrow, and Champion Silver and Shiny Tyranitar capable of Mega Evolving on Friday, March 1. Sygna Suit Gladion and Magearna will be appearing, and a photo creator will be implemented. In Café Remix, Gimmighoul coins can start to be collected, while Miraidon and Falinks are added to Unite, along with a bunch of other things. The final item before Legends was Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, a mobile version of Pokémon Trading Card Game Online with entirely virtual cards from packs players swipe to open, and then interact with in various ways. Two packs per day can be opened for free. Immersive cards give players the experience of leaping into the card itself, exploring its notably detailed artwork. From The Pokemon Company, DeNA, and Creatures Inc. it releases this year.
While there was no acknowledgment of the continuation of Concierge, end of Pokémon TV or any indication of successors, the end of 3DS online services, or even new webseries, there’s probably plenty of projects that will be ready to be announced over the course of the year. Updates are sure to come. Watch the full Presents below.
