Pom Klementieff Sought To Bury ‘Guardians Vol. 3’ Scripts In Karen Gillan's Garden To Maintain Secrecy During James Gunn's Limbo Period
In case you weren't sure of cast loyalty...
Well, this was certainly a table read for the ages. Pom Klementieff, who debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, has revealed that during the period when the 2018 smear campaign against director James Gunn was successful and he had been fired as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (out today), she nearly buried her script (in the ground) to prevent any secrets from leaking out.
She had considered so in Nebula actress Karen Gillan’s garden, as they had come together for a private table read between the two of them. Klementieff called it a very tearful affair, but also full of laughter. She remarked “…I got paranoid that someone would find the script. So I was like, ‘We should hide the script. Maybe we should bury it in the garden,’” She attributed her affinity for hiding things that then she can’t find, calling it squirrel behavior, and one of her “problems”. Gillan confirmed the anecdote, and at the time was befuddled and amused, suggesting a more reasonable cupboard to hide the script.
Kevin Feige Helped Stave Off Gamora's Death In 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'
It turns out that Guardian of the Galaxy Gamora was almost killed off even sooner than her demise in Avengers: Infinity War. This is according to executive producer and Guardians of the Galaxy series writer and director James Gunn in a new interview with ComicBook.
Klementieff and Gillan were two of the signees of a July 2018 open letter to Disney, encompassing all major Guardians co-stars, the others being Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker that urged the studio to reinstate Gunn as director of Vol. 3. No cast member thought it would be right to make it without their writer-director that had been guiding the series like Gunn had.
Gunn was eventually reinstated, but not before being snatched up by Warner Bros. and DC to write and direct The Suicide Squad. Once thought to be shepherding the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Vol. 3 marks Gunn’s departure as he moves full time into his role as DC Studios CEO, kicking off the new DC Universe with Superman: Legacy, which he’s writing and directing, as well as the Creature Commandos animated series. Both actresses have considered jumping ship with him as their Guardians characters’ stories conclude.
As 'Guardians' Wraps Up, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff Have Their Eyes On DC

With director James Gunn wrapping up his Marvel duties, he can fully focus on the DC Studios CEO duties he was hired to in November,…
