The Proper First Episode Of Upcoming Nicktoon 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' Is Now On YouTube
Yeah there was a false start in mid-August, that was the pilot
Back in mid-August, Nickelodeon celebrated the rebranding of their Nicktoons YouTube channel by hyping the premiere of a brand-new Nicktoon, which was Rock, Paper, Scissors created, written, and executive produced by Kyle Stegina and Josh Lehrman, who previously created Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark.
However, that only turned out to be the 7-minute pilot, some of which had been released previously. Within days, the first full proper pair, “Birthday Police” / “Paper’s Big Lie” became available on cable providers’ On Demand services. This past weekend, “Birthday Police” premiered on the Nicktoons YouTube channel.
In “Birthday Police”, Rock, Paper, and Scissors have figured out how to get free cake when they go out to a restaurant: by claiming it's Rock's birthday. When the waitress asks for ID to verify such birthday, the Birthday Police bust in. Will the best friends be able to escape their hold? Or will they go rogue and end up being Ooze Kings? Whatever Ooze Kings are anyway.
The series logline reads
Rock, Paper, Scissors brings the iconic childhood game to life! This character-driven comedy follows the hilarious shenanigans of roommates Rock, Paper, and Scissors on their hijinks and ridiculous adventures. Rock, the moral compass of the group, is always struggling at his dream of becoming a model; Paper is an inventor and the brains of the group (if by “brains” you mean “making stuff that’s always blowing up”); and Scissors is the wannabe cool guy whose ego brings an endless fountain of chaos to these three friends. No matter how much they compete and mess with each other, at the end of the day, they will always bond over their shared love of one thing: wacky nonsense.
The voice cast features Ron Funches as Rock, Thomas Lennon as Paper, and Carlos Alazraqui as Scissors, voicing other minor characters in the episode as well. The major guest star is Carla Gugino as Detective Wishkowski, while Eric Bauza and Kari Wahlgren voice members of the Ooze royal family and other more minor characters. DreamWorks and Sausage Party alum Conrad Vernon and The Fairly OddParents’ Bob Boyle serve as the series’s executive producers. The series is still expected to premiere next year.
