Psycho Pirate Plays Havoc With His Part In 'Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Two' Full Trailer
IGN has also released a clip with introduction by Jensen Ackles as part of IGN Fan Fest
Warner Bros. Animation, DC, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have released new footage for Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths – Part Two, the second part of their trilogy adapting the very DC Comics crossover event by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez that event comics have been trying to replicate ever since, with both a new trailer and an excerpted clip. Part One was released on January 9.
The trailer opens with Dr. Fate retrieving Psycho Pirate for their destiny, their part in the Crisis. The shadow demons arrive for Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Bat-Family, while Kara is transported to the Monitor. The shadow demons are, according to reports from other heroes, attacking all universes’ Earths. As more are destroyed, Psycho Pirate asks Kara a question that sows distrust before openly declaring he’s sending signals to not only sow distrust, but hate and fear in order to cause infighting among the heroes, convincing Kara that she can save the universe by fighting back. The trailer ends by revealing the cover art (and plugging comics), but does not give a release date, only telling viewers to “Look For It On Digital.”
Luckily, the answer didn’t need too much extra searching. It’s apparently IGN Fan Fest week, and the long-running games-turned-general entertainment website has news and exclusives ready to be doled out across the week before their big livestream event. And this includes an exclusive clip of the film with an introduction by Jensen Ackles, who voices the main Batman in the film, native to what’s called the “Tomorrowverse” continuity. He would be the one to reveal that Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two will be available on digital on April 23, 2024. The clip itself sees Batman, Mister Terrific, and Dr. Light, real name Kimiyo Hoshi, monitor the oncoming shadow demons, Batman fights some off, and Superman, Green Lantern John Stewart and Green Arrow Oliver Queen welcome themselves to hell as they brace for the new wave.
This middle installment does have its own official synopsis that reads “An endless army of shadow demons bent on the destruction of all reality swarms over our world and all parallel Earths! The only thing opposing them is the mightiest team of metahumans ever assembled. But not even the combined power of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and all their fellow superheroes can slow down the onslaught of this invincible horde. What mysterious force is driving them? And how do the long-buried secrets of the Monitor and Supergirl threaten to crush our last defense?”
IGN’s cast listing seems to imply that a very heavy majority if not the entirety of the ensemble cast of the first part are still around for the second. That means we’re once again led by Ackles as Batman, Darren Criss as Superman & Earth-2 Superman, Stana Katic as Wonder Woman & Superwoman, Matt Bomer as The Flash/Barry Allen, Meg Donnelly as Supergirl, who had become Harbinger in this adaptation as well, and Jimmi Simpson as Green Arrow. But as expected with such a grand-scale event like a crisis crossover, it’s a very big ensemble. That includes (deep breaths) Jonathan Adams as Monitor, Geoffrey Arend as Psycho Pirate & Hawkman, Zach Callison as Dick Grayson/Robin, Ato Essandoh as Mr Terrific, Aldis Hodge as John Stewart/Green Lantern and his Power Ring, Erika Ishii as Doctor Light/Dr. Hoshi & Huntress, Ike Amadi as J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter, Amazing Man & Ivo, Alexandra Daddario as Lois Lane, Alastair Duncan as Alfred, Matt Lanter as Blue Beetle & Ultraman, Cynthia Hamidi as Dawnstar, David Kaye as The Question, Ashleigh LaThrop as Iris West, Liam Mcintyre as Aquaman & Johnny Quick, Nolan North as Hal Jordan, Amazo, & the DCAMU John Constantine, who as the ender of his world becomes the Pariah of this adaptation and is the one to move world to world and witness their destructions, Lou Diamond Phillips as The Spectre & Owlman, Keesha Sharp as Vixen and Harry Shum Jr. as Brainiac 5.
The film is produced by Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau, executive produced by Butch Lukic, Sam Register, and Michael Uslan, and directed by Jeff Wamester from a Krieg script. Wes Gleason was casting and voice director. All that’s left is a release date for Part Three, but with over eight months in 2024 remaining, it is going to be hard to not keep the promise of all three parts releasing this year.
