'Rick And Morty’ “Cryo Mort A Rickver” Cold Open Released In Completely Animated, Cut-Off Form Ahead Of Air
The lines have been drawn, colored in, digitally, and now they’re ready to be televised
Before Rick and Morty season 8 premiered, it would become clear that what fans, viewers, etc. had been shown beforehand the most ended up being from last week’s episode “The Last Temptation of Jerry”. The first two preview fully-animated preview clips were from it, including the opening scene, accomplishing it well before its airing. And the other airs tonight at 11 PM on Adult Swim, “Cryo Mort a Rickver”. Thursday’s release of the cold open shows the fully-animated form of the very animatic shown at New York Comic Con in October that was the first material from the season released.
After taking some digs at podcasts, Rick’s ship comes across a cryoship, with rows and rows of the cryogenically sleeping frozen refugees of a destroyed husk of a world. And they want to rob them. There’s hyper coal in the safe. Unable to access it on their own, Rick is ready to blow it open. Morty doesn’t want to. A tussle tears away at Rick’s utility belt and activates explosive cubes, with sped-up countdowns. The fully-colored upload ends there, but the animatic shows Rick uses a protective shield to brace for impact. This was the point the animatic clip in the episode titles reveal video ended. But there’s more in the original full animatic clip. The sprinklers are set off by the fire, as is the emergency wake-up for the pods. Morty wants to leave, but Rick still wants the hyper coal, hijacking the pod of a dead cryosleeper. Rick blames Morty’s moral compass. It’s punctuated by the title card but a full opening sequence is still possible.
'Rick And Morty' Renewed For Seasons 11 & 12 By Adult Swim
It turns out episode 101 will not be the end point for Adult Swim’s long-running animated series Rick and Morty. It was announced at the show’s New York Comic-Con panel Thursday afternoon, which served to preview season 8 for the first time before its premiere next year, that the show has been renewed for seasons 11 and 12.
This is the entire extent of the episode we’ve seen, maybe. Even the episode description is just “Rick and Morty wanna rob a ship in cryosleep, but people are light sleepers.” The pointy ears Rick puts on Morty might match civilians of the “MOB JUSTICE!” yell at the end of the trailer. And we know when Rick and Morty episode descriptions get vague, there’s something deeper, some sort of storyline they’re definitely trying to deflect from. But we’ll see how that goes. Rick and Morty stars Ian Cardoni, as Ricks, Harry Belden as Mortys, Chris Parnell as Jerrys, Spencer Grammer as any Summers, and Sarah Chalke as the Beths. This is a season that opened with three absences from Jerry, one from Morty in “Valkyrick”, and "The Rick, The Mort & The Ugly" was a Citadel-wrapping episode that only had Cardoni and Belden. There’s no additional cast information but you can watch the clip below.
Hank Keeps Busy In First 'King Of The Hill' Clip
Peggy Hill has groan up. Hulu has released the first clip from its upcoming first revival season of King of the Hill, releasing August 4. And it seems Hank has become quite fond of a man he nearly didn’t vote for because of a limp handshake.
