'RiffTrax Live: TimeCop' Kickstarter Calls In New Set Of Dollar-Based Stretch Goals
Meat raffles and sports movie riffs are the names of the games here
Time is running out. There are two weeks left in RiffTrax’s Kickstarter campaign to fund their live show riffing the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme sci-fi thriller TimeCop. In this very different economic environment from a year ago, the campaign still managed to surpass its $460,000 stretch goal, with $460,788 from just about 4600 backers, 4602 at finish, meaning every backer is averaging about a $100 contribution, with an average of $4,000 a day contributed since last update. Unfortunately it means only three of the stretch goal shorts, “What Mary Jo Wanted”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, and “Speak Up, Andrew!”. So with so much time remaining it makes sense to bring in two new stretch goals to try reaching.
At $480,000 a third edition of the Meat and Makeup Raffle will be unlocked. Bridget Nelson and Mary Jo Pehl will spread the love, laughs, meat and makeup, exclusively for Kickstarter backers at the $80 Digital Only + Digital Stretch tier and higher. Primary RiffTrax hosts Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett and Michael J. Nelson ask: Will you be the proud winner of a brand new palette or a succulent selection of beef?
'RiffTrax Live: TimeCop' Kickstarter Sets First Dollar-Based Stretch Goals
We’ve got a new briefing to cover from the RiffTrax Kickstarter campaign for their live show riffing the Jean Claude Van Damme film TimeCop. To update our totals, we’re now at $406,071 from 3,734 backers. That unlocked the first stretch short “What Mary Jo Wanted”, a
At an even $500,000, the guys will follow up their just-unlocked compilation VOD Hunks of Junk, which already followed in the footsteps of Super Zeroes, with a Sports Movie edition that currently seems untitled. As they put it “Fore! Touchdown! ET CETERA!!! With a few exceptions over the years, sporting films have avoided the RiffTrax treatment through clever feats of athleticism, but no longer!” If the goal is reached, the guys will riff classic moments from classic sports movies (and some maybe not so classic), and everyone at the $80 Digital Only + Digital Stretch tier and above will get the resulting VOD free as part of their rewards. More stretch goal news is promised for later this week.
TimeCop takes place in the futuristic world of 2004. Max Walker, played by Van Damme, is splitting the very barriers of space and time after the death of his wife, played by Mia Sara, at the hands of time-traveling goons, he is recruited to an elite task force of time-based police officers, the Time Enforcement Commission. Unfortunately, a U.S. Senator (Ron Silver) has gained access to their system of time travel and he’s using it to commit unspeakable evils across generations and must be stopped. The riff of the film will be performed live by the guys at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN on June 26, and be broadcast to the big screen in over 700 movie theaters across America on Thursday, August 14 with an encore on Tuesday, August 19 as a Fathom Event, which is how it’s always been done, give or take an encore or change of performance location.
It’s A Lucky Day To Dip In The Well Of New 'Doctor Who' Episode Titles
We are mere weeks away from the April 12 premiere of Doctor Who’s second season on Disney+ and with Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, or of its third era on the BBC. Another episode title reveal video to match last year’s was highly anticipated, except it couldn’t piggyback off of being an Easter treat because Easter is April 20 this year, the Sunday after the…
