Riri Williams Goes Suitably Iconic In 'Ironheart' Trailer
The miniseries premieres June 24 on Disney+
Whoever decided to release the Ironheart trailer the same day as Superman is maniacal. Back at the end of October, Disney+ had set premieres and premiere windows for Marvel Television in all of 2025, including a June 24 date for the long-awaited Ironheart, starring Dominique Thorne as genius inventor Riri Williams in her first live action appearance following her debut in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. With the end of Andor Tuesday night, it was time to release the trailer for the next show to get the primetime Tuesday 9 PM slot.
The original synopsis found in the filings at the copyright office read “Teenage super genius Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) returns from MIT to her hometown of Chicago in her iron suit and begins to unravel threads that bring danger and adventure right to her doorstep.” In pursuit of her ambitions, she starts dealing with the “mysterious yet charming” yet villainous Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos, who plays at her insecurities over not being recognized, funding her criminally, because everyone does shady stuff to get what they want. Her support system starts getting suspicious too. But she does eventually get some armor builds going, and uses them. Her being back at MIT reveals that Academy Award winner and Community star Jim Rash has reprised his Captain America: Civil War role, which means he might get a name here.
'Deadpool & Wolverine', 'What If…?' Season 3, And All Of Marvel Television 2025 Get Disney+ Premiere Dates
Marvel Studios is about to have a very busy 2025, even without Blade. With the release of Agatha All Along’s final two episodes imminent, those on Disney+ reliving the series thus far or catching up were treated to a sneak peek sizzle reel playing in front of it. It took until 9 AM Eastern on Wednesday morning to get its actual, properly-shareable relea…
Ironheart’s cast also includes Lyric Ross as Riri’s friend Natalie Washington; Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy; Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington; Anji White as Riri’s mom; Manny Montana as Cousin John, and Shea Couleé as Slug. Wakanda Forever director and series executive producer Ryan Coogler tipped a hat to the comics teams that fostered Williams and developed her into the character ready for the spotlight. “Ironheart is such a great character in publishing. In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.” He also describes Riri and Parker as two sides of the same coin, and the two characters bond over their shared quest for greatness, but as time goes on she discovers he might be hiding dark secrets. “It really highlights what happens when that ambition goes unchecked,” Coogler teases. “What kind of price do you pay?”
Marvel tells that creator and head writer Chinaka Hodge and executive producer Zoie Nagelhout were very interested in the conflict between science and magic, the tension between the logical and the fantastical, manifested by the tech-minded Riri finds herself facing off against otherworldly foes. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes each direct three episodes of the six-episode show, and premiere night is a three episode drop. That means the entire miniseries will roll out over four weeks, ending on July 15 and leave only ten days before The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters.
'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Official Trailer Surfs And Stretches Out Of CinemaCon
Guess it was pretty obvious from the description of the CinemaCon footage that what the exhibitors were seeing of Marvel Studios’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps would be the official trailer from all the different described scenarios that had to flow somehow. And now the studio has made that trailer public, releasing it two weeks later. The film stars…
