'Star Trek: Discovery' Final Season Release Window And Episode Titles Confirmed
One last journey for Michael Burnham’s crew, clips and titles and more have been found
It’s now 2024, and there are dozens of shows confirmed to be ending in the upcoming year. Among those dozens is Star Trek: Discovery, one of the OGs of the streamer that became Paramount+. Not only do we have another sneak peek clip of its fifth and final season, but we know when the final ten episodes will start rolling out and what they’re called.
Premiering in April, the episode titles were found on the official site for the Writer’s Guild. These are as they stand today but could change by their releases. Being the Writer’s Guild site, each episode’s credited writers were listed with them. The episodes are (in order) “Red Directive”, written by executive producer and showrunner Michelle Paradise, “Under the Twin Moons” written by Alan McElroy, “Jinaal”, written by Kyle Jarrow & Lauren Wilkinson, “Face the Strange”, written by Sean Cochran, “Mirrors”, written by Johanna Lee & Carlos Cisco, “Whistlespeak” written by Kenneth Lin & Brandon A. Schultz, “Erigah”, written by M. Raven Metzner, “Labyrinths” written by Wilkinson & Eric J. Robbins, “Lagrange Point” written by Cochran & Ari Friedman, and the series finale “Life, Itself”, written by Jarrow & Paradise.
Paradise’s writing credits for both the season premiere and series finale mimic her having done similar for the same-positioned episodes for previous seasons. Lee, whose experience includes Altered Carbon, and Metzner, whose experience includes Sleepy Hollow and was showrunner for Iron Fist’s second season, are Discovery’s new writers, joining as co-executive producer and consulting producer respectively. The writers’ room is rather similar to last season, though some did receive promotions, like Kenneth Lin becoming a full executive producer.
Discovery was part of Paramount+’s CCXP panel last month in São Paulo, Brazil, which brought Paradise and series star Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Captain Michael Burnham to show off a new sneak peek. Captain Burnham and Book, played by David Ajala are together following uncertainty in Season 4 finale, after the Federation ordered Book to assist DMA-displaced families indefinitely, leaving Burnham unsure they’d see each other again. They encounter a dangerous creature who to their surprise has a cloaking ability and is not alone.
This fifth and final season sees the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery “uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries,” as the synopsis tells, as well that they’re not the only ones seeking said power, but “dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize”, including mercenary scavengers Moll, played by The Expanse‘s Eve Harlow, and L’ak, played by The Night Agent's Elias Toufexis. The main cast is rounded out by Doug Jones as Saru, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber, Blu del Barrio as Adira, and this season’s new series regular, Callun Keith Rennie as Rayner.
