'Superman' Behind The Scenes Video From CinemaCon Released For Superman Day
It’s not a trailer, but it’s the look that counts. Happy birthday Superman!
It’s been over two weeks since the last day of CinemaCon, and we’re still seeing the cages opened on what exhibitors got to see. For the James Gunn-directed Superman, the clip of Superman getting repaired at the Fortress of Solitude wasn’t the only piece of the presentational , as a behind-the-scenes video was also reported. With Friday being Superman Day, the anniversary of the character’s debut in Action Comics #1 in 1938, there were a lot of expectations of what could be released, like a substantial portion who hoped for something regarding My Adventures with Superman season 3. Instead it was rather merch-heavy, namely with Funko Pops, at least of the day-of announcements. Outside of that, Warner Bros. and DC saw fit to release that very behind-the-scenes featurette to commemorate the day.
“James (Gunn) didn’t know that Superman was in his future,” says DC Studios co-CEO and Superman producer Peter Safran. “He wasn’t sure that was the one he should be doing,” he continued, “and then he called me one day and said ‘I have a way in. I know what I want to talk about.'” The Kryptonian robots that populate the Fortress are indeed practical, able to give Gunn a high five. Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane gives a brief glimpse of the Daily Planet offices. She says about Superman, “He saves people because he’s good, we could use a little more of that.” David Corenswet, who plays the Man of Steel, and Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor, revel in how liberating their costumes are. Glimpses of Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho are seen, while Nathan Fillion and Edi Gathegi, who play Green Lantern Guy Gardner and Mister Terrific Michael Holt got their say.
'Superman' Sneak Peek Escapes CinemaCon Phantom Zone
On Tuesday evening, April 1, Warner Bros. had their panel at CinemaCon. Exhibitors were fed sneak peeks of several upcoming movies, whether new trailers or new scenes. The Cat in the Hat had an unfinished trailer showcased, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures Animation

Superman Day Brings 'My Adventures' Season 2 First Look, James Gunn & David Corenswet Commemoration
On his socials, Gunn shared the featurette with “What a joy. What an honor. What a moment. So lucky to be here.” He followed that up with a behind the scenes picture of Corenswet and Brosnahan wired up for that kiss in indoor flight scene from the trailer, captioning it “When I cast #Superman, I needed to cast Clark, I needed to cast Lois, but I also needed to cast that special onscreen chemistry between two actors that can’t be explained. That’s the thing davidcorenswet and rachelbrosnahan brought to this movie together, and I can’t wait for you to see it in theaters July 11.” Christopher MacDonald, who plays Ron Troupe, and Poorna Jangnathan, who will play John Stewart’s love interest Zoe on the upcoming Lanterns series, both marked the occasion in their own way.
But that wasn’t the only anniversary related to the film that was marked this week, as Jimmy Olsen’s first appearance as a fully developed character on the The Adventures of Superman radio show was on April 15, an 85th anniversary that had Gunn saying “Today is the anniversary of Superman’s Best Pal Jimmy Olsen. skylergisondo’s performance in #Superman is gonna knock you out of your socks.”
'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Official Trailer Surfs And Stretches Out Of CinemaCon
Guess it was pretty obvious from the description of the CinemaCon footage that what the exhibitors were seeing of Marvel Studios’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps would be the official trailer from all the different described scenarios that had to flow somehow. And now the studio has made that trailer public, releasing it two weeks later. The film stars…
