'The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish' Trailer Shows Cosmo And Wanda Ready And Willing With Hazel; Get Premiere Date
You’ll flip your lid when you’re not a kid watching 'Fairly OddParents' in just a few weeks
It turns out that The Fairly OddParents’s second attempt to get beyond Timmy Turner (Chloe who?) is coming very very soon. The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish has been granted a May 20 premiere date and a first look trailer. Yup, less than three weeks away.
With a 4:30/3:30c Aftertoons timeslot on Nickelodeon, A New Wish sees fairy godparents Cosmo and Wanda, once again voiced by Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee, come out of retirement for ten-year-old Hazel Wells, who has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. It’s another adjustment for her on top of being without her brother Antony, who’s just started college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. The first season is 20 episodes, and with it confirmed to be keeping that timeslot, it definitely sounds like at least two weeks of premieres to start, with or without Fridays (sometimes it just goes Monday-Thursday).
Like the live-action hybrid first attempt, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder on Paramount+, Jorgen von Strangle is back (because he’s also voiced by Norris) but this time he’s showing visible age. There’s a glimpse of Fairy World, and it has changed quite a bit too. The trailer runs 30 seconds, so it’s definitely way more of a TV spot kind, but sees Cosmo and Wanda help her out in school and soon she’s indulging in the joys of her wishes. It is not clear how long after the original series this one takes place.
The original The Fairly OddParents ran on Nickelodeon for 10 seasons between 2001-2017 for 172 episodes, and a trilogy of live-action TV movies with Drake Bell as a 23-year-old Timmy from 2011-2014. Approximately the back half of the final season aired on Nicktoons. The no-longer-available Fairly Odder saw Timmy himself college-bound and hand over Cosmo and Wanda to his cousin Viv, who would soon find herself sharing them with stepbrother Roy.
From Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is co-executive produced by Hairston, Teen Titans Go! alum David Stone, Infinity Train’s Lindsay Katai, and Daniel Abramovici. Original series producer Fred Seibert and creator Butch Hartman also serve as executive producers. Trevor Young is an animation director, and Mighty Magiswords director Kyle Carrozza is a storyboard artist. Production is overseen by Claudia Spinelli, who is Senior Vice President of Animation for Big Kids at Nickelodeon, and Kelley Gardner, Vice President of Current Series in Animation. The show will also be available on Netflix internationally later this year.
Even with all that, a sneak preview will air Friday, May 17 at 9:15 PM as the lead-out from the broadcast premiere of The Boss Baby 2: Family Business. The spot can be watched below.
