'The Wonderfully Weird World Of Gumball' Claps Its New Opening Sequence
An international premiere date was also announced for the Cartoon Network continuation
We are just four weeks away from Gumball and Darwin’s return, where Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World is now The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, with the first batch of episodes dropping July 28 exclusively on Hulu, a departure that’s still so surprising yet not. While that is the situation for Americans, it’s not quite for the rest of the world. For Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Asia Pacific regions, it’s staying in the Cartoon Network and HBO Max family, and now we know when that rollout begins.
As a Hanna Barbera (formerly Cartoon Network) Studios Europe production, based in London, it would make sense that Monday’s announcement happened how it did, with Cartoon Network UK’s release of the new intro sequence, designed by Jack Sachs, who also created the new logo, continuing the use of the beloved theme song from the first six seasons. It revealed a premiere date of Monday, October 6. That’s ten weeks difference from the Stateside premiere. The first six seasons will return to Cartoon Network UK’s lineup starting July 21.
'The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball' Announces Hulu Premiere Date
It’s been a few weeks since the seventh season of Cartoon Network favorite The Amazing World of Gumball publicly revealed itself as the domestically Hulu-original The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball. The announcement came with almost everything, including that it will be available on
Created and executive produced by original series creator Ben Bocquelet, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball boasts its eclectic mix of media styles including 2D & 3D animation, CGI, puppetry, photorealism and live action, into a “wildly imaginative world defined by its vibrant visual style and sharp meta humor”. The logline reads “Welcome back to Elmore, where the laws of reality are a joke, and family life is anything but ordinary. Whether he’s battling an evil fast-food empire, facing off against a sentient AI in love with his mom, or trying to stop Banana Joe from wearing pants — Gumball Watterson drags his brother Darwin, sister Anais, and the rest of the town of Elmore along for the ride. With even wilder stories, bigger twists, and surreal humor, the show is so amazing that they had to rename it!” Again, very self aware.
In the cast, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’s Alkaio Thiele has taken over as Gumball, Hero Hunter has as Darwin, and Kinza Syed Khan as younger sister Anais, in what is seemingly the character’s first recast. Of course, Teresa Gallagher and Dan Russell are back as parents Nicole and Richard, because it’s the parents. Matt Layzell and Erik Fountain serve as executive producers and series directors. The composer for the series is Xav Clarke and Joe Sparrow serves as Art Director.
