The TRUE 'Archer' Series Finale Has Been Announced At NYCC
Such was teased during the airing of Wednesday's episode "Breaking Fabian", capping off 14 seasons
I watched 14 seasons of Archer and all I got was this breaking news! When Archer was first announced to be ending with its 14th season in May, said season was expected to be what had become a typical 8-episode August to October run. And that’s what it was looking to be heading into Wednesday’s airing of the billed series finale “Breaking Fabian”. As the episode aired, things were looking pretty… non-finale-y. However, FXX’s Archer bumpers during the episode teased a special announcement at its New York Comic-Con panel, which happened Friday.
And at the panel, the announcement came: A 3-part series finale event, Archer: Into the Cold will air on Sunday, December 17 at 10/9c on both its current home FXX and its original home FX, returning after seven and a half years since the move to bolster the sister network with other original programming. The simulcast brings as much live audience as possible, giving Charter customers the chance to watch live after their carriage compromise with Disney allowed Charter to drop FXX. This forced fans to follow along natively through their VOD service if Hulu wasn’t an option.
Season 14 saw Archer and The Agency find their own way with Lana now leading the charge. She wanted to make money while improving the world, but running a spy agency isn’t that easy. While “Breaking Fabian” wasn’t looking so finale-y, it certainly got there by the end. The final moments would have ended up as quite the downer but befitting the show, as the spy agency watched as the United Nations declared all private spy agencies illegal and ordering them shut down within 30 days.
Archer stars H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer, Chris Parnell as Cyril Figgis, Aisha Tyler as Lana Kane; Judy Greer as Cheryl/Carol Tunt, Amber Nash as Pam Poovey, Lucky Yates as Dr. Algernop Krieger, and Natalie Dew as Zara Khan, The Agency’s new super-agent. It was created by Adam Reed and is executive produced by him, Matt Thompson, Casey Willis and co-executive produced by Mark Ganek of Floyd County Productions. Check out the teaser.
