DC Unveils The Cast Of 'Justice League: Warworld'
Darren Criss, Jensen Ackles and Stana Katic unite for the first time in this next installment in the Tomorrowverse continuity
It’s time to come together, as the DC Trinity unites for war. Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen Part One only just came out on Tuesday, and Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham just four weeks before that, but Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment are powering on through with more DC Comics-based direct-to-video films in its current Tomorrowverse continuity. They have just revealed the cast for Justice League: Warworld.
The film is led by Jensen Ackles as Batman/Officer Wayne, Stana Katic as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and Darren Criss as Superman/Agent Kent. No word on why Bruce and Clark’s names aren’t being used yet. Ackles’s Batman debuted in Batman: The Long Halloween, which was split into two parts. Katic’s Wonder Woman debuted in Justice Society: World War II, while Criss’s Superman debuted in the continuity’s first film, 2020’s Superman: Man of Tomorrow. They are joined by Trevor Devall as Drifter, John DiMaggio as Lobo, Robin Atkin Downes as Mongul, Frank Grillo as Agent Faraday, Rachel Kimsey as Mariah Romanova, Ike Amadi as Martian Manhunter/J’onn J’onzz, Troy Baker as Jonah Hex, Roger C. Cross as Machiste, Brett Dalton as Bat Lash, David Lodge as Sheriff, and Damian O’Hare as Deimos and Teddy Sears as Warlord. Matt Bomer, who voiced Barry Allen/The Flash in Justice Society, is simply credited here as playing “Old Man”. No specific character details are given. Could there be something more going on with that?
The official synopsis says “Until now, the Justice League has been a loose association of superpowered individuals. But when they are swept away to Warworld, a place of unending brutal gladiatorial combat, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the others must somehow unite to form an unbeatable resistance able to lead an entire planet to freedom.”
Justice League: Warworld is directed by Jeff Wamester, who also did the Legion of Super-Heroes film. The script comes from Jeremy Adams, Ernie Altbacker, and Josie Campbell. Executive producers include Butch Lukic and Sam Register, the latter of whom is President of Warner Bros Animation so his name goes on everything the studio produced. Longtime Batman franchise executive producer Michael Uslan serves the duties here as well. The producers are Warner Bros. mainstay Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau. The film is expected to be released this summer for home entertainment formats.
