Josh Brolin Snaps Into The 'Wake Up Dead Man' Ensemble
Now that’s a W for the next Knives Out mystery
Coming off of Dune, maybe it was inevitable that Josh Brolin would be a hot enough commodity as an actor again to be eyed for an A-list ensemble like the next Knives Out mystery. And that has indeed happened, as the Thanos and Cable actor has joined returning writer-director Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the next case for Daniel Craig’s sleuth detective Benoit Blanc.
With production set to begin this upcoming Monday in the United Kingdom, casting news continues to pile in. Brolin joins Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, and Daryl McCormack. Besides his two Marvel characters and his two-part turn as Gurney Halleck in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune sci-fi epic, Brolin played somewhat-known DC Comics character Jonah Hex in a 2010 film adaptation. It wasn’t received all that great, rather poorly actually but it means Wake Up Dead Man will likely be a reunion for him and Kunis. He also appeared in the Sicario movies, Hail Caesar, True Grit, and Men in Black 3 and is an Academy Award nominee for supporting actor playing Dan White in Milk.
Brolin currently stars in, executive produces and even directs Prime Video’s sci-fi Western series Outer Range, his first series regular role in nearly 20 years, with season 2 premiering just last month. He is currently in production on Weapons, director Zach Cregger’s Barbarian follow-up. His memoir, From Under the Truck, releases in November.
The circumstances of the inevitable murder scene to be solved are currently unknown, plot details haven't been released, but Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to be released next year exclusively on Netflix.
