Kate Micucci Is Cancer-Free And Needs No Further Treatment
The comedian and actress is 'grateful' and 'lucky' for the early catch.
It’s Christmas Day, and it figured it would be right to at least start with some truly good uplifting news. Actress and comedian Kate Micucci revealed just a week after surgery for lung cancer that it was successful enough that she is officially cancer-free.
Micucci, whose recent work includes Flora & Ulysses, Clerks III, and starring in an episode of anthology series Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, posted a follow-up to her original post-surgery video on her TikTok, very gratefully saying “Hey everyone! I just wanted to thank you all so much for the good wishes and all the love that I have received this past week. It meant so much to me and really came at a time that I really needed it so thank you. I have great news, which is that I am cancer free!”
She would continue “The surgery last week went great. All the reports came back that it worked. I don’t need to do any other treatment. So big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me. And thanks to figuring it out early because I am very, very lucky and I know that. I’m just really grateful that things worked out as they did. I’m feeling really good today and I’m honestly just so excited and truly grateful. So thank you all for all the prayers and wishes. I’m just glad I can report some good news to you.” As she described fresh off the surgery, of course one can live any sort of healthy lifestyle with no intentional carcinogenic intake like smoking and still get cancer, but it still surprised her that it happened and that she was one of them.
Micucci is probably best known for being half of comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates with Rikki Lindhome, who would get an IFC series in 2014. By then, they were already well known. Micucci in particular had appeared on Scrubs, Raising Hope, and The Big Bang Theory. She’s also built quite the voice acting resume, being the main voice of Scooby-Doo!’s Velma Dinkley since 2015, as Jovie in Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas, and major roles in Motorcity, as Sadie on Steven Universe, Daisy on Nature Cat, Irma on the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, Sara Murphy on Milo Murphy’s Law, Webby Vanderquack on the DuckTales reboot, and Dr. Fox on Unikitty!
