'LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy' Sequel 'Pieces Of The Past' Announced At Star Wars Celebration
Ready to break the world again, brick by brick?
When it comes to Lego Star Wars, there’s piece throughout the galaxy. Just because the Star Wars franchise announced it had what is likely its next weekly series in Maul: Shadow Lord and the third season of its popular preschool series Young Jedi Adventures premiering this fall doesn’t mean its LEGO productions, a relationship going on 20 years now, was going away. Nor would that be wanted at this point. Well, at Star Wars Celebration Japan, during a live stage interview, Rebuild the Galaxy showrunners and writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit announced via a special video greeting a new sequel to that miniseries. It’s called Pieces of the Past, a new season in official materials, which would be premiering September 19, 2025 on Disney+.
“We’ve been asked, what’s next for Sig, Yesi, and Jedi Bob? Will there be more Darth Jar Jar?” Hernandez explained. “Star Wars Celebration fans, we’re excited to announce that their story will continue.” Samit then revealed the title via a hand-built, “brick by brick” LEGO timelapse. A new poster was unveiled, giving an idea of who would be joining on the adventure. Like a brick-built Chewbacca made from over 2,000 individual LEGO pieces, and Marvel Comics-originating Lepi smuggler Jaxxon, marking the character’s first named appearance in animation, voiced without any blueness by Ben Schwartz. They join Gaten Matarazzo as Sig, Tony Revolori as Darth Devastator, and Bobby Moynihan as Jedi Bob. Meaning Dewey and Louie Duck are reuniting for all DuckTales lovers.
'Ahsoka' Season 2 Touts Anakin, Zeb And Ackbar Returns, First Look At Rory McCann As Baylan Skoll At Star Wars Celebration Panel
When I first covered Star Wars Celebration nearly three years ago, it was in Anaheim, Ahsoka’s panel was shared with The Mandalorian, and I barely knew what I was doing, even from afar less than two months into the old gig. I had the writing skills and the competence, but I didn’t have the getting or production skills I do now. I covered
A familiar face will also be a main part of the story, if proportioned very differently than fans are used to. A BrickHeadz version of Ahsoka Tano will be voiced by original voice actress Ashley Eckstein, embraced uproariously by the crowd. With the character in hand, she discussed her involvement saying “When I got the call that I was going to be returning as Ahsoka, I cried. I’ve missed her so much. I’ve missed you all so much. This has really been a dream come true. I am such a huge fan of LEGO. I have so many of these Ahsoka BrickHeadz and I now get to voice her!”
Eckstein last voiced the character in her starring half of Tales of the Jedi in 2022, and reflected that her storyline here is “such a good representation of Ahsoka,” as she put it. “Last time I was on this stage I talked about how Ahsoka lives in all of us, and we’ve really made Ahsoka’s story our own story. We’ve experienced Star Wars for an entire generation through Ahsoka’s eyes… and we’ve literally created our own story through Ahsoka, and that’s what this story is about. There’s so much heart in BrickHeadz Ahsoka, and we’re all going to relate to her. You’re going to love it.”
Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best discussed how his character was reimagined in LEGO form as Darth Jar Jar with the rewriting of the universe that is the crux of the original special. “I always liked this Darth Jar Jar theory,” said Best. “You know what the funniest thing is? People would come up to me and go, ‘Have you heard this Darth Jar Jar [theory]?’ And I was like, how could I have not heard? [laughs] It’s everywhere. But I always wanted to explore this whole Darth Jar Jar thing. So when Rebuild the Galaxy came about, I was just like, oh, this is absolutely perfect. This is the best way to explore Darth Jar Jar and start talking about him. I got to do a whole bunch of comedy ad-libbing while we were doing it, which is my thing. I loved it.” Best’s favorite ad-lib in the role? “I am the phantom menace. I have always been the phantom menace.” He declared, smiling “It’s something I’ve been meaning to say for over 20 years.” Now the cliffhanger surrounding the character can be resolved.
