'Pokémon Horizons' Season 2 Dub Title Revealed, Premieres Set
Liko, Roy and Dot’s Terastal training will hit Netflix for American audiences on time in February, but iPlayer viewers in the UK will get it sooner
See, what did I tell you? Just before the release of the fourth part of Pokémon Horizons: The Series on Friday, November 22, The Pokémon Company and Netflix have announced that it is the final part of the first season, as expected, ultimately running 45 episodes. Further, season 2 is called The Search for Laqua, with “season 2” also part of the titling and is set to premiere on the streamer on February 7, 2025. A trailer was released, and then rereleased for British audiences in a cut that revealed that the season for them on BBC iPlayer would start in January.
It’s a title that certainly evokes those of the Japanese chapters Horizons has been divided into. It’s a title model probably closer to Sun & Moon’s seasons than the Hoenn saga’s Advanced leading to Advanced Challenge and Advanced Battle, or especially going from Journeys to Master Journeys to Ultimate Journeys. Definitely a starker focus. The chapter the series is currently in is “Rayquaza Rising” and The Search for Laqua will kick off in “Terastal Debut”. With the latter only lasting until the series’s 67th episode, it will very likely fit snugly and make for The Search for Laqua’s second part, which is expected to arrive in May. That is if the quarterly releases maintain consistency for every three months.
The season’s synopsis confirms that not only will it contain the “Rayquaza Rising” chapter as well, but will cleanly finish in there as well. It seems the two chapters per season format that had been suspected may very well be real. “The adventure continues for Liko and Roy as they travel the world in search of the remaining Six Hero Pokémon and the legendary land of Laqua. But to grow as Pokémon Trainers, a new challenge awaits — Tera Training! Journeying through Paldea, Liko, Roy and Dot must hone their Terastallization skills and battle the region’s powerful Gym Leaders. Then, Liko, Roy and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers resume their pursuit of the Six Heroes, including the black Rayquaza, as both they and the Explorers race to uncover the secrets behind Terapagos and finally find the path that will lead them to Laqua.”
Despite what could easily be two matching batches of 11 episodes as alluded to earlier, Bulbapedia only has the first nine assigned that February 7 date. Since both the U.S. and the UK fronts are waiting for their drops together at this point, there are no English titles given yet. Since what came thus far has stuck pretty closely to the Japanese titles, they’re probably going to sound like “How Thrilling! Naranja Academy”, “Liko and Floragato, Put All Your Heart Into It”, “Shine! The Brilliance of Fire and Art”, “Dot and Nidothing”, “Terastal! Dance Dance Quaxly”, “Thorny Floragato!? The Mysterious Flower Pillar”, “Wattrel, High Wind Warning!”, “Hattrem and the Unworldly”, and “The Eternal Blessing”.
“Pokémon Horizons: The Series represents everything fans love about the beloved Pokémon animation, including themes of exploration, friendship and teamwork that resonate with fans around the world,” said Taito Okiura, the vice president of marketing and media for The Pokémon Company International. “Season 2 will see Liko and Roy encounter more fun adventures, and we can’t wait for Trainers to tune in to more captivating stories featuring lovable characters and Pokémon.”
