'Power Rangers Cosmic Fury' Trailer Highlighted By First Morph And Another Return
Cosmic Fury's Netflix page was available as of September 1, releasing the trailer September 4, situated for the season's September 29 release
Now that September has arrived, it’s only four weeks until the premiere of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, so of course it needed a Netflix landing page situated to be ready for it, and now it has one. And with it comes that autoplaying header preview.
Pokémon Ultimate Journeys part 3’s clip was of Ash’s Pikachu’s second wind and the very end of its battle against Leon’s Charizard. To Be A Pokémon Master is getting its own page and its clip is from the first episode of the arc trying to help Latias. Strangely, they’re both called trailers when they’re really not. Cosmic Fury’s is filled with new and actually previously unseen footage. It starts with a mostly offscreen Billy having just given Green Ranger Izzy, Gold Ranger Aiyon, new Red Amelia, and Black Ranger Javi their Cosmic Morphers. They figure it out and morph for the first time.
It then continues with heavy action set to the theme song, and before we could even get our first footage of Zayto, previously the Dino Fury Red Ranger, as the Cosmic Fury Zenith Ranger we get some surprise confirmation: Heckyl would be returning to the TV series as the Dark Ranger. Heckyl, played by Ryan Carter, debuted in Dino Charge with an unsubtle Jekyll and Hyde dynamic with his other side being Snide. Initially a villain on both halves, Heckyl broke free and joined the Rangers, but he never actually became a Ranger, even as it led onto one based on Deathryuger from the source material Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger and the Dino Charge Morpher toy containing a sound for a “Talon Ranger” that also never appeared.
At the end of the season Heckyl became the keeper of the Dark Energem, which was the source evil. As chronicled in the Beyond the Grid arc of the Boom Studios comics, Heckyl returned to his home planet, Sentai 6, with Zenowing, the Dino Charge Silver Ranger, to fulfill such guard duties. Without Zenowing’s knowledge, Heckyl started building a Morpher for the Dark Energem based on the former’s Titano Charge Morpher. He is then able to morph to become the Dino Charge Dark Ranger, and take out Lord Arcanon , who destroyed Sentai 6 in a previous timeline. The Dark Energem would try to corrupt Heckyl again by turning him back into Snide. Zenowing saves Heckyl at the last minute which sacrifices himself in the process. After partaking in the battle against Lord Drakkon, he teams with Ranger Slayer Kimberly, Magna Defender Mike Corbett, Yellow Zeo Ranger Tanya, Red Space Ranger Andros, and Green Samurai Ranger Cam Watanabe to become Solar Rangers with Remi and Ari to defeat rogue Morphin Master Praetor. Now, Heckyl will be morphing for the first time onscreen with the helmet of Kyoryu Navy.
Leaning into some discoveries that haven’t been disclosed yet, the only time Blue Ranger Ollie Akana is seen in the trailer is when he’s behind Zedd’s mooks and struck by one of Amelia’s energy strikes from her sword. Morphin Masters fly overhead as Rangers do battle in an open but rocky field. Zords are crashing too. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury stars Hunter Deno as Amelia, Kai Moya as Ollie, Jordon Fite as Aiyon, Tessa Rao as Izzy and Chance Perez as Javi, Russell Curry as Zayto, Jacqueline Joe as Fern, Izzy’s girlfriend and nearly-confirmed Orange Ranger and David Yost as Billy Cranston, the original Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury premieres September 29 on Netflix.
