'Star Wars: Visions' Volume 3 Premiere Date, Spinoff Banner Announced At Star Wars Celebration
I see the vision, and we’re getting more of it
This fall is going to be very busy for Star Wars animation. Already confirmed to feature the third season of Young Jedi Adventures and a sequel/new season for Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the Star Wars Celebration Japan panel for Star Wars: Visions revealed that that series was getting in on the fall fun too. Executive producer at Lucasfilm James Waugh announced that the third volume will premiere on Disney+ on October 29.
It was confirmed that this third volume will contain three sequels. “The Duel: Payback”, which follows up on “The Duel” will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno from anime studio Kamikaze Douga. “The Lost Ones,” a followup to the “The Village Bride,” has Hitoshi Haga at Kinema Citrus as its director, while “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” will be directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani at Production IG, the sequel to “The Ninth Jedi”. The three of them talked about their episodes and showcased new character designs. “The Ninth Jedi” writer and director Kenji Kamiyama took the stage and thanked the enthusiastic audience for their support of Kara and Juro’s continuing adventures. announced that that Kara’s journey will unfold further as the first season of a new longer-form spinoff Star Wars: Visions Presents. With that season bearing the name of the original short, the spinoff frees storytellers of the constraints of the allotment of a single short. Or at least, it sounds like the plan. Doesn’t seem like they’re going to stretch them into their own individual multi-season series, right? It certainly reminds me of The Simpsons starting the “Treehouse of Horror Presents” branding with a full 22-minute story like “Not It” in season 34.
'Star Wars: Visions' Returning For Third Volume
Disney and Lucasfilm have affirmed their greater vision for Star Wars: Visions. The animated anthology series will be back for a third volume. Despite the long silence following the Star Wars Day release of the second volume last year, it’ll be far sooner to see the next, as a 2025 premiere has been promised on Disney+ as usual. It was announced shortly…
“I made a short story called 'The Ninth Jedi' during Volume 1,” said Kamiyama. “Director Shiotani is making one more film this time [“Child of Hope”], and it ends with Kara’s departure to look for her father in the first short film.” The story as a whole features color-changing lightsabers suitable to one’s Force invented by Kara’s kidnapped father, according to Kamiyama. “What in the world was the reason for such lightsabers,” Kamiyama continues. “I think it will be a story where those secrets will be told.” He will serve as supervising producer on the spinoff.
The sequel stories weren’t the only ones showcased at the panel, as Masaki Tachibana of Kinema Citrus previewed an “especially kawaii” story titled “Yuko’s Treasure”, where a girl will be accompanied by a large, bear-like droid with a microwave built into his belly. Hiroyasu Kobayashi of Project Studio Q discussed the darker and more mechanical “The Song of Four Wings,” which took the four blades of an X-Wing as its central motif. “We’re a studio that specializes in the creation of mechanisms, so we really focussed on the essence of the old Joe Johnston designs and featured a lot of droids and mechs,” he explained. Star Wars: Visions Presents will premiere in 2026 on Disney+.
