'Superman & Lois' Gets Full-Night Final Season Premiere On The CW’s Fall Schedule
The season will premiere with two episodes on October 17
For its final season, Superman & Lois will kick off with a bang. For only the second time in the history of the Arrowverse, one of its shows will occupy a full night on The CW’s primetime schedule with two brand new episodes. Superman & Lois’s final season will premiere in just that manner on Thursday, October 17, the network announced amongst its fall premiere dates.
The first time this happened, as far as I can tell was nearly three years ago, with the November 9, 2021 series finale of Supergirl, airing both “The Last Gauntlet” and “Kara” that night. Superman & Lois probably came closest prior, as when the series premiered in February of that year, its 64-minute pilot (taking up three slots) was accompanied by a half-hour special titled “Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope”, which featured sneak peeks, cast interviews and a discussion of the Man of Steel’s legacy. As previously reported, The Librarians: The Next Chapter will air after Superman & Lois in the Thursday 9 PM hour, and that begins the following week, October 24. Network President Brad Schwartz is certainly trying to build it as the event television he recognizes it to be and this is a very nice way of doing so.
The CW Fall Schedule Places 'Superman & Lois' Final Season On Thursdays
A lot has changed at The CW over the past two years, and more is bound to as Nexstar enters its second full season as the network’s owners. It’s pretty bad that ABC’s only comedy on its fall schedule is Abbott Elementary for all the extra slots it has compared to The CW, but The CW only has four scripted shows on its schedule thanks (in major to WWE NXT…
In general, the network’s fall season will begin on Friday, August 30, with the premiere of the new season of Inside the NFL following something unannounced. The next day, the Pac-12 college football season begins with games at 3 PM and 6:30 PM Eastern. Sunday, September 1 sees the season 4 premiere of The Chosen while the 9:30 slot has yet to be filled. Friday September 6 sees the return of Whose Line Is It Anyway? assuming the 8 PM hour in front of Inside the NFL but with the first NASCAR XFinity Series race running two weeks later, it seems they’re prone to preemptions. WWE NXT begins Tuesday, October 1, while the Wednesday schedule of Sullivan’s Crossing season 2 and new drama series Joan begins the next day. Game show Monday begins promptly on October 7, featuring the series premieres of Scrabble, hosted by Raven-Symoné, and Trivial Pursuit hosted by LeVar Burton. They’re both hourlongs. The midseason replacement for the six-episode Joan will be season 4 of Canadian import Children Ruin Everything with two episodes beginning November 13.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent aka Superman, Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor, with several if not all of its previous and departed series regulars returning in lesser capacities.
