'WandaVision' Featurette Gives First Look At 'Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’
Who keeps drip feeding everything all about Agatha’s second sooooong?
Agatha Harkness, the insidious, perfidious witch of Westview played by Kathryn Hahn has been shrouded under a veil during the production of her WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Darkhold Diaries for Disney+. However, the mothership has its Blu-ray release Tuesday with special features, one of which feature a preview of its spinoff, finally giving viewers and fans a peek.
In the featurette, Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, said she talked to Marvel about developing something else. Everything that she pitched “included a storyline about Agatha”. Schaeffer went on to say “I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?'”
'WandaVision', 'Loki', And 'The Mandalorian' Are Getting Physical Home Media Releases
In recent months, Disney+ had come under increased scrutiny for not having any physical home media for their original series. This became especially egregious when dozens of titles were removed from both Disney+ and Hulu, many of them originals. The behind-the-scenes shots give glimpses of cast members Joe Locke as the Familiar (reportedly Billy Kaplan), Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, and the returning Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis aka Mrs. Hart under the hex, and Ali Ahn. “The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” co-executive producer Mary Livanos would subsequently say. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives.” Hahn called a spin-off “delicious” to Agatha, making complete sense and creating excitement and thrill for her.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries was originally scheduled to be released probably somewhere in the next 4-8 weeks, however it was delayed to early fall of next year this past September. According to filings at the United States Copyright Office, that amounts to a September 19 target, and the first episode synopsis tells that Agatha breaks free of the Agnes persona Wanda had kept her in at the end of the mothership series. Eager to return to her evil ways, she’s powerless but enlists the help of her coven on a perilous quest to get them powers back. If the dates at the Office are more than targets, it would be situated between the July 26 release of Deadpool 3 and the targeted November release of Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
