Ronnie Anne Hits Birthday Vacation Complications In Trailer For 'The Casagrandes Movie'
The movie for the 'Loud House' spin-off releases March 22 on Netflix
In 2021’s The Loud House Movie, Lincoln and the rest of the Loud family went on a weeklong trip to Scotland to explore their heritage. This March, his love interest Ronnie Anne Santiago, who received her own spin-off from The Loud House, The Casagrandes, gets her own movie for Netflix, aptly titled The Casagrandes Movie. She and her extended family will be headed to Mexico to celebrate her 12th birthday, the trailer the streamer released Friday reveals.
Said trailer begins with Ronnie Anne (voiced by Izabella Alvarez) relishing in her milestone, reaching eligibility for admission to Xtreme Eddie’s Sick and Twisted 12 and Over Skate Park, hoping to spend every day there with her best friend Sid Chang. When she gets home, her family reveals they’re going to Mexico, not just for her birthday, but the whole summer. While she didn’t have much of a say, she still wants to get her skating in, and finds Mt. Punguari, according to legend the forced home of a trapped demigod itching for their full power, and if it happens, unleashes a death curse on the valley they’re visiting. And of course, Ronnie Anne is the one to accidentally release her. So things become quite the monster mash and she needs her family’s help to fend them off.
As the official synopsis puts it “After a surprise family trip to Mexico derails Ronnie Anne’s birthday plans, she is determined to prove that she’s old enough to do her own thing — even if it means confronting an ancient preteen demigod whose angst has apocalyptic potential!” Ronnie Anne was an early love interest of Lincoln Loud’s. She is an adventurous 11-year-old who in setting up the The Casagrandes series, moved with her family, including older brother Bobby, who is Lori Loud’s boyfriend, away from Royal Woods and to the big city to live with more of her multi-generational Mexican-American family. It ran for 70 half hours amounting to 112 episode segments from 2019 to 2022.
Along with Alvarez, the other confirmed reprisals from the series are Sumalee Montano as Ronnie Anne’s mother, Maria, Sonia Manzano as Abuela Rosa and Angélica Aragón as Mama Lupe, so it should be good for the rest of the main cast. Voicing new characters in the film are The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia’s Paulina Chávez, Maya and the Three’s Kate del Castillo and Ted Lasso’s Cristo Fernández. The Casagrandes Movie is directed by series co-developer Miguel Puga and written by Tony Gama-Lobo and Rebecca May, Lalo Alcaraz, and Rosemary Contreras, who were all writers on the series. Michael Rubiner, who developed the television series with Puga, is executive producer. It will premiere on Netflix on March 22, first revealed when the streamer had its Next on Netflix 2024 preview earlier this month. Check out the trailer below.
