Nickelodeon Sets Wild Premiere For 'Wylde Pak'; First Episode Already On YouTube
On the same day the first half of the new 'Phineas and Ferb' season drops? At least the kids have options
On a week where two of Nickelodeon’s biggest hit franchises, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House celebrate their premiere anniversaries, the first network for kids was demonstratively ready to showcase its next Nicktoon, Wylde Pak. Its premiere episode was posted to YouTube on Thursday, setting a linear premiere for Friday, June 6 at 7:30 PM.
Inspired by co-creators and executive producers Paul Watling, previously of The Tiger’s Apprentice and Kyle Marshall’s (The Loud House) family life (lives?), it sees a multigenerational and multicultural blended family navigate new family dynamics under one roof for the first time. The series stars Nikki Castillo as competitive and fun-loving 11-year-old Lily Pak, and Benjamin Plessala as the adventurous 13-year-old half-brother Jack, who just came into town for the summer. Alongside them are Ben Pronsky as their fun-loving dad William Wylde, Jee Young Han as Lily’s energetic mom and Jack’s stepmom Min-Ju Pak, and Jean Yoon as Min’s unpredictable mom, and Lily and Jack’s caring yet stubborn grandma Halmoni.
Nickelodeon Sets Summer Premiere For Newest Nicktoon 'Wylde Pak'
We’re getting some more originality on Nickelodeon’s slate. The children’s network has set a summer premiere for Wylde Pak, a new 2D-animated comedy Nicktoon that follows a blended multigenerational Korean-American family. The first episode is a full half-hour story, titled “Best Summer Ever?,” and it sees Jack and Lily’s cohabitation off to a rough start. Their arguing sends the family’s new grooming trailer careening through town and they must save their family’s livelihood and Halmoni, who is stuck inside. While having released the episode the trailer (essentially a 30-second TV spot) and key art (it’s poster) were too. Additional voice cast members announced were Gillian Jacobs as Alice Kelly, Jack’s biological mom and a world-renowned documentarian taking on global adventures, and Jon Glaser as Chuck, the family’s happy-go-lucky and eccentric neighbor who always seems to know a guy when a situation calls for it.
Wylde Pak is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank. Watling and Marshall’s fellow executive producers are Seonna Hong and Conrad Vernon. Development and production are overseen by Claudia Spinelli, the Senior Vice President of TV Series Animation at Nickelodeon and Daniel Wineman, the Vice President of Original Animation Development. Further clips will be going to both the Nicktoons and The Loud House YouTube channels.
