'Power Rangers Cosmic Fury' Inches Closer To Revealing Fern's Ranger Role In New Images
The 10-episode season premieres on Netflix on September 29
It was an unexpected day for Power Rangers fans, as brand new images made their way into the wild from the upcoming 10-episode Cosmic Fury season, seeing many of its new elements in episode material for the first time as opposed to publicity photos and renderings.
On Wednesday afternoon, the FanSided website NetflixLife published an article going into everything that was known so far, describing its position in the franchise, what the plot is, what it adapts, the release date and some of its firsts and firsts in a while. It also lists release date, jumping the gun a bit with its cast list by listing Jacqueline Joe’s Fern as the Orange Ranger, which they only really know from insiders and hasn’t quite been officially revealed yet. However it’s getting incredibly close, as what came after were a set of new production stills. However, these do seem to be leaks, as the pictures’ original file names indicate they weren’t supposed to be released until September 1.
The first originally seemed to be the moment Amelia Jones either reveals herself as the new Cosmic Fury Red Ranger or, with all that red dust above her, is bestowed the position. However, it has since come to light that it comes from episode 3, so it might not be the case. The second has her in a red top and pink jacket about to morph with Izzy, Aiyon, and Javi, wearing a metallic glove on his left arm. There’s probably an injury coming. The next image is the one being used as the lead, the four of them morphed and armed with their weapons. Both of these images come from the fourth episode. They’re ready to morph again in the next still, from the fifth episode, dressed in what might be Rafkonian garb. Something yellow has definitely been downed behind them. Finally, from all the way in episode 9, they’re back in another of their casual outfits ready to morph again but joined by Ollie the Blue Ranger and Fern, who’s wearing a white jacket over an orange top. That’s how close it skirts: On the verge of morphing while wearing her color.
In addition, Netflix released its New on Netflix video for September 2023, which featured Cosmic Fury in its Kids & Family section with Spy Kids: Armageddon, Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, the To Be A Pokémon Master final part of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys, and part 5 of My Little Pony: Make Your Mark. The clip, smartly, seems to be from the first episode, as the confrontation with Lord Zedd and his seemingly sycophantic cronies, along with some foot soldiers, results in Amelia, Aiyon and Izzy morphing into their Dino Fury suits. Billy appears beside them before some fight footage with Billy while Amelia and Ollie still in their Dino Fury suits.
Notably absent from these releases is Russell Curry’s Zayto, the resurrected Rafkonian who had been the Dino Fury Red Ranger who will be the season’s Zenith Ranger, as announced in January. He’s also not in much of the merch. Even though he was the one to alert them of Zedd’s escape into space and led them offworld to chase him at the very end of the season, something more might be going on. Joe and Curry are joined by Hunter Deno as Amelia, Kai Moya as Ollie Akana the Blue Ranger, Jordon Fite as Aiyon the Gold Ranger, Tessa Rao and Chance Perez as siblings Izzy and Javi Garcia, the Green and Black Rangers, and David Yost as Billy Cranston, the original Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury premieres September 29 on Netflix.
