Rifftrax Kickstarter Campaign’s Final Days Get Pintense
You might be a bit enameled as the end nears
With less than two days of Rifftrax’s Kickstarter campaign for their live show, the end is coming at a Point Break-neck speed. Two updates came very quickly on Thursday, revealing a trailer for the show (which doesn’t embed on Substack), the exclusive pin depicting the target film Point Break inspired by its most-frequently used poster, and even Christmas ornaments made. At $600,292 602,406 from 7,087 7,127 backers, the The Mads Are Back’s riff VOD of The Phantom From 10,000 Leagues has been clinched for eligible backers, with their Best of going out to all backers.
The Rifftrax 2024 exclusive backer pin features Point Break stars Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze translated from poster to pin with special stylization by the returning Nikol King of PRIMÆVAL PRESS. It is 1.5" wide, cast in black metal, and colored using soft enamel. The clutches on the back have been upgraded to soft rubber to ensure the pin is held securely to wherever it’s worn. It is available starting at the $115 Exclusive Pin reward tier, but also as an add-on for backers at physical reward tiers from the $100 Live Show DVD and higher tiers. It will also be able to purchase separately through the PledgeManager reward survey a few weeks after the end of the campaign, giving those at digital-only reward tiers a chance to get them as an add-on at that stage.
Similarly, Christmas ornaments of the show’s logo and the Ice Cream Bunny (from Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny) have been made. They’re 3" wide and made of brass, and are expected to ship in time for the holiday season. The RiffPlanet logo one is in lieu of a challenge coin for their Patrons, who at any level if they contribute at the $100 Live Show DVD and higher tiers will get it free. The patrons will also get access to a special "Extended Edition" of the trailer soon, along with more insight into its making. The Ice Cream Bunny is only available as an Add-On for the $100 DVD Package level and higher.
Ticket information for both the August 8 and 13 showings of Rifftrax Live: Point Break will be made available soon, but it is unclear if that will be part of the presumed final pre-end update or come after it’s over.
