Rob Delaney Is The Next Returnee For 'Deadpool 3'
The 'Catastrophe' actor played Peter, the human member of the merc's X-Force in the previous film
There’s some excitement in order for a returning member of the X-Force. Rob Delaney has officially signed on for Deadpool 3, rejoining the franchise as Peter, the human on the mutant-heavy X-Force team in Deadpool 2. He’s not even all that spectacular a human either, with not even a unique mundane skill in his arsenal. Though Delaney should’ve been one of the variants in the Animaniacs theme for sure.
In the previous film, Peter helped Deadpool rescue young mutant Russell Collins, known as Firefist and played by Julian Dennison, from the abusive Mutant Re-education Center. Deadpool himself is Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, the foul-mouthed mercenary who becomes the immortal superhero following a disfiguring science experiment.
The exact story for the third installment still isn’t public, but Delaney is just the latest to be cast for the film. Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine from the X-Men movies, making his MCU debut. Returning for the film is Karan Soni as cab driver sidekick Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Wade’s roommate Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as his fiancée Vanessa, who was killed and revived in 2, and Stefan Kapicic as the mutant Colossus. The Crown‘s Emma Corrin is set to play the film’s villain, and Succession‘s Matthew Macfadyen has a role with even fewer known details. As a Marvel Studios production, Reynolds is producing the Shawn Levy-directed film with studio president Kevin Feige. Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Zeb Wells are all credited as writers of the script being worked from.
Delaney is an Emmy and BAFTA Award-nominated comedian, actor and writer. His best known work is co-creating and starring opposite Sharon Horgan in the comedy series Catastrophe, which ran for four seasons on Prime Video for US audiences. His previous film credits include The School for Good and Evil, Home Sweet Home Alome, Bombshell, and Hobbs & Shaw. For television, he’s been seen in series such as The Power, The Man Who Fell to Earth and Key and Peele. He is the voice of Nate’s father Martin Wright on the Paramount+ Nicktoon Big Nate, and his upcoming roles include Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Matthew Vaughn’s Apple spy pic Argylle, a series on the service called Bad Monkey from Bill Lawrence that co-stars Vince Vaughn, and the romantic drama Love at First Sight for Netflix.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release on November 8, 2024, kicking off Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set to be the final phase of the Multiverse Saga.
