Sigourney Weaver In Talks To Join 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'
Get a way into the franchise you legend!
Now here’s a sci-fi legend potentially coming to another legendary sci-fi franchise. Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars movie since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
The three-time Academy Award-nominated actress best known to the world as Ellen Ripley from the first four Alien movies has also starred in sci-fi blockbusters like the Ghostbusters and Avatar films, the latter of which reunited her with Aliens director James Cameron, as well as Galaxy Quest. The Mandalorian & Grogu, which would bring her to a galaxy far far away is the film continuation of Star Wars’s first live action television series The Mandalorian, starring Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, the title character and a warrior who is tasked with caring for Grogu, a deceptively young-looking member of Yoda’s species. Pascal is expected to star as Djarin for the film, but with The Last of Us season 2 being followed by Marvel Studios’s The Fantastic Four at the end of July, he’s got quite a bit on his plate.
While the Star Wars franchise has, for most of if not all of its life, had the clout to attract big names, Weaver being brought into the Mandoverse section of the franchise wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary. It’s the film of a series that has seen appearances from Jason Sudeikis, Adam Pally, Christopher Lloyd, Jack Black, Lizzo, Brian Posehn, Taika Waititi, John Leguizamo and Bill Burr, with the series’s co-creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni inserting themselves and fellow directors Rick Famuwiya and Deborah Chow.
Weaver most recently starred in and executive produced the Australian miniseries The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart and the crime thriller film Master Gardener. She apparently has at least two of the upcoming Avatar sequels as well, though with a 2029 release date for the fourth movie, it’s still well after The Mandalorian & Grogu will likely be released, as the latter is currently set for May 22, 2026.
I Got You, You Son Of Jango Fett!!
