'The Legend Of Aang' Delayed To October 2026, 'Mutant Mayhem' Sequel To September 2027
'Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie' moves up a week and fills out its cast
I guess when taking on a second animation studio for your film, it’s not exactly for cleanup. Paramount Pictures has announced Friday that due to delays in animated physical production they’re delaying the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem from October 9, 2026 to September 17, 2027. In its place, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is no longer the movie for my 32nd birthday as it moved from January 30, 2026.
The October 9 date was intended to have been proven reliable had The Legend of Aang been able to keep its original October 10, 2025 release date and perform well. As it stands, it’s currently going up against a Universal Blumhouse film. A continuation of the Nicktoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, it stars K-Pop star Eric Nam as Aang, Dark Winds’s Jessica Matten as Katara, American Ghosts’s Roman Zaragoza as Sokka, and Dionne Quan as Toph, with Dave Bautista as the villain and Steven Yeun in a currently unconfirmed role. Directed by Lauren Montgomery and co-directed by William Mata, it is produced by Maryann Garger, Latifa Ouaou, and original series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. At the very least, the film’s logo was finally unveiled.
'Legend Of Korra' Animators Studio Mir Joins 'The Legend Of Aang: The Last Airbender'
It seems in these last 8 months of making the first animated Avatar: The Last Airbender movie The Legend Of Aang: The Last Airbender, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, and of course Avatar Studios are calling on an old friend to supplement the work already done by
It has admittedly been a while since we’ve heard from the Mutant Mayhem sequel, being directed by the first film’s director Jeff Rowe as well as Yashar Kassai and Kyler Spears. It will, after two seasons of the bridge series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, see Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey take on Shredder for the first time in this iteration. The move also means that it won’t be one project per year, with the second Tales season reportedly arriving this year in Q4, after season 1 was last year and Mutant Mayhem in 2023.
However, that wasn’t all, as Paramount conceded July 31, 2026 to Sony and Marvel Studios’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day by moving Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie to the week before it but after another Tom Holland-starring film, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. They essentially switched places, as Brand New Day moved into the week it currently holds to spread the two films out slightly. The third theatrical Paw Patrol film, based on the Spin Master-produced, Nickelodeon-aired animated series, recently confirmed its cast, from who’s voicing the heroes to the celebrities they’ve got filling out the film’s supporting cast. Making up the team and joining the returning Ron Pardo as Mayor Humdinger, McKenna Grace as Skye, Lucien Duncan-Reid as Rubble and Nylan Parthipan as Zuma are Carter Young as Marshall, Hayden Chemberlen as Rex, Rain Janjua as Chase, William Desrosiers as Rocky, and Henry Bolan as the team’s human master leader Ryder. Joining Jennifer Hudson and Fortune Feimster as celebrity supporting cast are Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye, and Meredith MacNeill. Their characters are currently unrevealed.
The synopsis reads “After their ship gets caught in a mysterious storm, the PAW Patrol crash land on an uncharted tropical island filled with dinosaurs. They meet Rex, a pup who has been stranded on the island for years and has become an expert in all things dino-related. When the PAW Patrol’s arch rival, Humdinger, begins recklessly mining in hopes of exploiting the island for its natural resources, he inadvertently causes a huge, dormant volcano to erupt. The PAW Patrol are thrown into a series of high-stakes, dino-sized rescues bigger than anything they’ve done before, as they must stop Humdinger before everything on the island goes extinct.”
Cal Brunker continues to direct the franchise’s theatrical excursions having done both previous, also co-writing the film alongside Bob Barlen as they did, though they had Billy Frolick with them for the first. Jennifer Dodge, Spin Master’s president of entertainment produces with Spin Master Entertainment colleagues Laura Clunie, and Toni Stevens and company founder Ronnen Harary. While the delays have yet to get statements, the The Dino Movie casting did. Dodge said, “This amazing assembly of performers is befitting of the dino-sized franchise that is PAW Patrol. Alongside the brilliant talent already involved in the film, these cast additions will make this a must-see adventure, as our beloved team of rescue pups enters its second decade of captivating kids and families worldwide.” Ramsey Naito, the President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, added “We couldn’t be more excited to bring audiences everywhere this next chapter of PAW Patrol that is bigger, better, and bolder than ever – featuring a standout cast that brings these characters to life in fresh and exciting ways.”
